My sister, who is only 8 years old, has chest pains on the ride side right under the collar bone when she runs. The precise area is right about where the pectoral muscle becomes thinner near the shoulder. It really bothers her, and she will go to see a doctor, but could you please let me know what it is?

Thanks

When I was a kid (5-14) I got pains when I ran. But they were on either side. I'd have to stop running and they would go away. I assume her pain goes away when she stops. So her proiblem might be the same thing, just in a different place. Just like some people get "brain freeze" when eating ice cream too quickly in their foreheads, and other people get the pain in their eye, and other people in their back.

I believe this is the same type of growing pain. But ask your doctor. He can examine her, and hopefully find the exact problem. Good luck. You're a good sister. For that, you deserve a star! :)

OOPS! You're a good BROTHER!
