the bible is a book that isn't for mere reading. it is a book for studying so that it can be applied. otherwise, it is like swallowing food down without chewing and then spitting it back out again...no nutritional value is gained by it. the bible is God's word. as such, it is as binding as the laws of nature. you can ignore it, but you do so to your own hurt, just as you would do so to ignore the law of gravity. it cannot be emphasized strongly enough just how important the bible is to our lives. studying the bible can be compared to mining for gold. if you make little effort and merely "sift through the pebbles in a stream," you will only find a little gold dust. but the more you make an effort to really "dig into it," the more reward you will gain for your effort.

They are very important. The Bible is many things - a history book of the world; it tells the future; it tells us how to acquire salvation so we can go to Heaven; it is the "rule book" for life - both for healthy and moral living (Have you ever heard anyone complain, "I wish that life came with an instruction manual"? Well, it does!); It tells us how we should relate to our spouses and families; it gives us encouragement in knowing that others have been in our shoes and how they successfully got through it; and it helps us to have faith knowing that God always wins in the end, so if we join with Him we cannot fail.

When I pray, I'm talking to God.
When I read the Bible, it's God talking to me through the printed word on the pages.
Jehovah's Witnesses are strongly encouraged to read the Bible every day.
It's hard for me to take the time to do that but I try to remind myself that conversation is two-sided and it's not fair to ALWAYS talk and never listen.

The Scriptures are the inspired word of God who used our human language , our culture our creativity to enable us to become closer to God through obedience to His word and will . God inspired man so that we may know God by using the human intellect , and other gifts . Because humans can never fathom the total mystery of God, God still desired us to know Him and so used what we could know and do to enable us to recognize Him in His word.

All Scripture is inspired by God, and is useful to teach me what is true and to make me realise what is wrong in my life. It straightens me out and teaches me to do what is right. It is God's way of preparing me in every way, fully equipped for every good thing God wants me to do.
