You are searching for something to fill a void and I understand that. There are many books on Wicca but all it is basically is man made rubbish. Why put your time and energy into something silly like that. I hope you are able to see that in the end all the chants, candles, etc. won't mean a thing. Give your energy and gifts to the one that created you and give him the praise instead of worshipping what he created. Good luck to you.

You begin practicing Wicca by learning the basics of the religion and putting them into practice every day. You contemplate the holy days (the sabbats and the esbats) and conduct ritual on those occasions. You start living the Wiccan Rede: "If you harm none, do what you will". (This does NOT mean "do no harm", it means that all actions that lead to minimizing harm are acceptable. Sometimes harm is necessary.) If it suits you, you start studying the techniques of witchcraft.
I highly recommend the book "Wicca: A Solitary Practitioner" by Scott Cunningham. It is a decent introductory text and gives you all the information you need to start practicing the religion on a daily basis. I advise you to stay away from anything by Silver Ravenwolf, for reasons outlined in the following essay:

If you visit one website, visit this one:

It is a good starting place for learning the theory behind our faith, and it has an excellent section of book reviews.
You might also connect with other local Wiccans through the Witches of the World section at Witchvox:

Just use the pull-down menus on the left to find individuals, groups, shops, and events in your area.
Best of luck to you on your path, and blessed be.
EDITED TO ADD: In response to Jenn, who wrote: "Give your energy and gifts to the one that created you and give him the praise instead of worshipping what he created. "
*sigh*
If I had a nickle for every person who had THAT misunderstanding about Wicca... we do NOT worship "the creation and not the Creator". To us, the universe is the living body of the God and the Goddess -- all things partake of Their divinity. Therefore, it is much more accurate to say that we worship the Creator IN the creation. To us, there is no separation.
EDITED TO ADD 2: I would say don't do any spells until you've been practicing the religion for a while -- at least six months. That will give you time to study the practices and philosophy of Wicca and to get a feeling for how magic works. Once you have a firm grounding in the religion, you could (again, if it suits you) start using witchcraft in a ritual context. This is the safest way to go; if you start doing spells right away, you might end up causing a lot of unintentional damage out of ignorance.

Make sure it is Wicca you want to practice, there are many other pagan paths out there. So in general you want to read, read read. Keep a notebook handy and write everything down the good and the bad. After that decide the path that you will take if it is Wicca you will have many forms of it to choose from. Be sure it feels right to you. After that read some more specifically on your path. Don't expect it to be like something out of a t.v. show. If you've made your decision try sitting in on some groups. witchvox.com has a ton of resources.

Read, decide on the path of Wicca and start practicing. Keep a notebook with you to record everything that happens, works or doesn't work too, that way you will know if what you are doing is right for the path you have chose. And ignore cynics who believe that we are liars and threats! Oh, and Harry Potter is a piece of fiction, not Wicca.
Blessed Be.

Prairiecrow is dead on about practicing Wicca.
If you are looking for spells, then a religion is not for you. So the first thing you need to figure out is what you are actually wanting to accomplish and how you think Wicca will accomplish them.

Greetings!
Be Kind and Helpful to others, Respect Nature, keep an Open Mind, don`t lie to others, or yourself, and you`ve got a good start.
Wicca draws from Old English History and Tradition, and includes Teachings in other Traditions, so read some History and Mythology, and enjoy!
