Yes, you can change your program. Like everyone said, contact your recruiter so they can hook you up with your classifier who will be the one to set you up with a better fitting program. I do agree that it would be better to do it BEFORE you ship to basic training, but it is possible once you get there to change your program. You'll be able to sit down again with a classifier to go over your program... but chances are slim that they'll be able to help you change it at that time just because class quotas can be booked up and there is just too little time get a class seat before you graduate.

And being you scored a 96 on your ASVAB, you'll probably be approached with the nuclear electronics program... Be sure to try and talk with someone who is currently doing that job because it is a very stressful and laborious one out in the fleet. But it pays the best as far as bonuses go for enlisted persons.

Good luck and welcome to the world's FINEST Navy!

I would sit down with my recruiter and the RINC of the station and discuss the problem with the contract. If you are still a teen ask an adult to go with you for support if possible,

If you have a 96 on the ASVAB then there should be alot of careers fields open for you.

If you did not want the job why did you sign the enlistmetn contract? Like any contract if you are not sure then you should nbot sign it,

Absolutely.. the recruiter is just a middle man... remember you are in DEP right now, you ARE NOT in the Navy, you haven't sworn your oath of enlistment, or signed your life away... don't do either until you are satisfied with where they are sending you and with what they have you slated for. There is a large difference between being a HM and an MA (the HM requires a higher AVSAB score), you should really reevaluate your career choices.

I suggest you contact the recruiter and ask him why you have a different contract than what you though you would get.

YEs you can. You can change it up until you go to boot camp. If they give you a hard time you have to be STERN with your recruiter or whoever is dealing with it. But YES you can change it

do it now if you are otherwise qualified( normal color vision, etc). you will NOT be able to change once you have shipped to Great lakes.
