Vitruvius and Richard R, I was Only Commenting On How Heavy a U-235 Bomb is Compared With a PU-239 Bomb, as of the Last Time I Asked this Question, the Iranians didn't Have a Missile to Lift Such a Heavy Payload.

Could it be loaded into a freight container and shipped to an American port?

Too heavy? What missile delivery are you talking about? How heavy could the payload be for short range ballistic delivery?

Strategically, the Iranians can't threaten to bomb anyone outside Iran. Missile defence systems. The UN having a cow. Logically, their objective would be limited to bombing any invading Army on Iranian soil.

They don't need to go nuclear to apply pressure. They just need to threaten to cut oil shipments through the Straits of Hormuz, which would take conventional rather than nuclear missile capability, which they already have.

Since when do nuclear weapons have to be loaded onto missiles? When you think about it that's a really stupid thing to do with a weapon these days. Missiles can be tracked back to their launching site. Satellite surveillance can detect missile launches. ABM systems can, if they are very lucky, shoot them down. Nations who launch nuclear weapons at us are not likely to do so again. Mushrooms would bloom. If you intend to survive after you launch, missiles are not the delivery system of choice.

Secretly Load a weapon into a cargo ship. Preferably one not of your own nationality. The weapon can be of ANY size. Sail it into the port of an enemy and explode the thing. It cannot be easily detected. It can not be shot down. Your enemy might suspect you, but you can deny everything. You can even condemn such a cowardly attack and announce you will help hunt down the perpetrators. Just like OJ.

The US government knows this is the most likely scenario, but because defense contractors like big government defense contracts, worthless projects like ABM missile systems get built. And it would hurt the economy to search every ship entering American ports.

It would fit on a truck! And they probably could find a willing suicide driver.
