If a college student is taken to the hospital on a university ambulance and the ride is at most 7 minutes long, how much will the ambulance bill be, for anyone familiar with ambulance costs?

different ambulance companys charge differently, some charge a flat rate plus milage, some charge for a fee, and then for what ever they use, plus milage.. you are probably looking at 400$ or more, depending on the company...

I got slapped with a 420 dollar bill. And that's including the 15 bucks they charged for rubber gloves.

It all depends on the company. I was not in a uni ambulance as the medical centre at UTK didn't have its own fleet.

Ambulances usually charge a flat fee per trip regardless of time, plus a per mile charge.

I actually have a bill here for a 7.5 mile ride. It is $478 after a $200 discount.
But i am sure it differs with companies and states

Costs vary widely from one service to another, especially if the paramedic actually had to do any treatments en route, but something in the vicinity of $400 wouldn't be unusual. It isn't a cab, after all.

good lord. that's alot of money. there are no ambulance bills in canada, all perks of national health care.
