1 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Shape dough into 1-inch balls and roll in cinnamon-sugar mixture. Place snickerdoodles 2 inches apart on lightly greased baking sheets.
Bake snickerdoodles at 400° for 6 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove to wire racks to cool. Makes about 4 dozen snickerdoodles.

Cheaters Snickerdoodle Cookies:

1 roll Pillsbury sugar cookies
1 cup sugar
Cinnamon, enough to liberally flavor the sugar

Cut sugar cookies into 24 chunks and roll each into a ball. Roll each ball in cinnamon sugar and place on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake according to package directions.

Tastes just like the real thing, which just happens to be my favorite cookie, so I wouldn't accept second best taste!
