I have a bad cold and have been trying to relax and get better all weekend. Still have to feed the family and would love something comforting before going back to work tomorrow. My head is so congested I can't think of good ideas:( Please help with simple suggestions...

Chicken soup! Cut up an onion and a carrot, fry it in the pot for a few minutes, then dump in chicken bones or just plain chicken meat, lots of water and a bay leaf. Bring to a boil and let simmer for an hour while you put your feet up. Add salt, pepper and maybe chicken bouillion to taste, and serve with some nice bread.

That's what I had last night (only I added a cup of barley with the chicken, and some slices of ginger), and I'm feeling a little better this morning. Hope you are too!

A roasted chicken would be great with mashed potatoes and carrots&peas. You can use the leftover chicken and bones to make a good soup too.

The chicken is easy to make and just let it cook itself for 2 hours, you can use instant potatoes if you don't feel like mashing and canned or frozen veggies.

beef stew with warm bread and butter. mmmmm, but since you aren't feeling well (and a good beef stew takes a while to prepare) just make hot soup and grilled cheese sandwiches or lay some bread on a flat baking sheet, lay a slice of cheese on top and broil till toasty brown. (you might lay a slice of bologna or ham on top of the cheese to make it a little more hearty, depending on if your family are big eaters) when you feel better, you might make up some of that beef stew and freeze it though for the next time you get to feelin' bad.

Call a local restaurant that delivers (Chinese, get soup and a couple of others dishes). If you don't feel well, why do you want to be messing around in the kitchen? Feel better.

just do bake potatos, there easy to prepare and easy clean up. if you have a can of beef stew or something you could add that to the top of them.. hope you feel better soon!

Meatloaf w/ mashed potatoes and a veg........or crockpot something Baked chicken is good too.....
