Oh what a great question. Fleas are a pita for sure. First you have to get rid of all the fleas...this isn't easy. If you have carpet, shampoo it. you can get sprays for the house from the coop, vet or other places, look for those that are less harmful to man and cat. I have used plain old 20 mule team borax from the soap isle in the grocery store and sprinkle around the carpet and let is sit a few hours while everyone is out of house. Confine the kittens to the bathroom or vinyl floor or in a carrier while you do this. When you return vacuum the carpets. There are sprays for around the house, inside and out, that you just spray at the base of the walls, door sills, porch steps etc. The idea is to kill the fleas, larvae and eggs. What ever you use, please READ the directions carefully. And remember to repeat the process. Some sprays last up to 3 months but you can do the carpets with borax every week and treat the kitties according to the directions on the containers. The borax is harmless unless swallowed and the kitties will be licking their feet etc so make sure they don't walk on it and that you vacuum well. It is soap. Mark your calendar so you don't miss any treatments as the eggs hatch out in 7 - 10 days and some may have been laid every day. Also read up on fleas and the problems they cause on google or yahoo search so you know what you are dealing with. Good luck with the kitties ma

The flea goes through four stages, egg, larva, pupa then adult flea. The adults live on the pet and the females lay their eggs here too. The eggs fall off the pets coat into the environment, carpet, furniture, anywhere the pet goes. These eggs then hatch which results in the larva stage. The larvae feed on small particles of debris, too small for the naked eye to see, things like flea dirt and tapeworm eggs. The larvae then pupate, spin a cocoon, and the adult flea starts to develop within. The pupae can survive until the conditions are favourable for them, even if this takes many months.
The fleas inside the cocoon are stimulated into hatching by warmth and vibration, which can be from the pet itself or the people in that environment, even moving furniture can be enough. Once the flea emerges it jumps back onto the pet and the cycle starts again. In the right conditions this whole process from egg to flea can take as little as 2 weeks. The adult flea does not survive for long on the pet, usually only 7 to 10 days.
the above is just so you under stand the next part clearly
you may well be killing the fleas on the kitten but the fleas will just jump back on them what you need to do is spray any were the kittens go bedding carpets ect every thing at the same time any thing they touch may contain flea lava or eggs
repeat in two weeks time this should then bring them under control

Yup you're right - flea and tick shampoo doesn't work! I'm afraid nothing from a pet store does. Reason being, stores aren't allowed to sell the appropriate chemicals for flea control.

Go to a vets to get some proper stuff. Frontline, Advantage, Revolution and Advocate all work though they're about the only things that actually do. These are spot-ons - liquids in a pipette you apply to the skin on the back of your pet's neck. All fleas will die within 24 hours and the animal is protected against fleas for at least a month.

Fontline or Advantage for cats. You can usually get it at petco or a veternary supply store. I don't know if petsmart has it. I don't even know if there is a petsmart or a petco where you live. If there isn't try a feedstore. Also stay away from the Heartz and the Biospot brand flea killers. Also make sure you get the stuff for cats and not dogs. The dog flea killers can kill the cats. The cost for the fronline should run you about 40 dollars for 4 tubes each tube will last 1 cat for a month.

Get some frontline from a vet. They also have a spray you can use on your carpets etc. I have had 4 dogs and 7 cats (including the two kittens I've just lost) in my life time and its the only stuff I ever found that really did do the job!

A family member had problems with flea's and got a company to come out a few times to fumeagte thier home but that stil didnt kill them all. I went and got a can of the spray from my vet and it did the job first time.

You can get a flea spray that you spray in the carpet, and around the baseboards of each room, and across the door sills. However, your best bet is to get the flea medication that you put on the dog's back between their shoulders (like Frontline's Top Spot). It will eventually kill off all the fleas within the dog's normal territory (both inside and out), but you have to keep treating every month.

for starters, you must thoroughly clean and vacuum any carpeting and upholstery where your kittens live as well as wash any bedding, get some household flea spraythat contains permethrin compunds and spray those areas and vacuum again, wash the kittens in a pet shampoo the contains permethrin and get some frontline on them....

try using frontline, you put it on back of there neck every 4 weeks and it gets rid of fleas and prevents them coming back, also give your kittens a bath it actually drowns fleas, keep combing them to get rid of flea dirt, it does not stick to there fur.
