A healthy 5-month old dog that's crate-trained could stay in a crate for about 6 hrs if necessary without going to the bathroom.
Is she an inside dog who may merely want to go outside because she is bored and you happen to be available to take her out? In other words, does SHE have YOU trained? If that is the case, take her for a long walk once or twice a day to help satisfy her desire to be outside. Then gradually get her accustomed to waiting longer, but watch her so that if she tries to manipulate you by eliminating on the floor, you can firmly tell her "NO".

(-: Wow! I can't believe you trained a puppy to use the toilet already! Most people just take them outside, not to the restroom. (-:
Seriously, puppies don't have complete bladder control yet, but it's a blessing that she's able to know when she's got to go. Also, puppies have TONS of energy. She may have learned that needing a pee is a sure-fire way to get outside and have a romp.
You could try giving her longer walks, and doing it more often. Other than that, it's a matter of waiting for her bladder to mature.

Puppies can hold it for long periods of time. I think the puppy has your trained which is not good. A puppy should be taken out every 1-2 hrs or immediately after they have drank, eaten, and/or played....the tend to get excited and have to pee real quick or poop. Also if your puppy is peeing that much then there could be something else wrong...such as diabetes or bladder infection. If you want to be sure then take it to the vet to have it checked out. It best to be safe then sorry later on.

Basically your pup is a baby. How often or much does your dog consume. I would not try anything to make her hold it longer. Consider crating training and a potty schedule.

Puppies have to go frequently and it is best to take them out as often as possible to relieve themselves. It will get better over time.. she will be able to hold it for longer as time goes on, as puppies get older they gain better control of their bladders and bowels.. it's just that she's a puppy at the moment. Better to take her out often so you don't have accidents in the house!!!

it is completely normal for puppies to do that. just hang in there and it will get better over time. i actually bought a puppy yesterday and the same thing happens. My advice is to bring him out often until he gets older. some signs to look for are shifts in attention, jumping around a lot, and quick akward movements as if deciding to sit or not. hope this helped. good luck!

Your dog may have dibetics..and that would cause one to go to the restroom.
