There was a picture in the October issue of Glamour, a special breast cancer issue, and it had a little piece on this female artist who lost her right breast to cancer, and instead of having some sort of implant or reconstructive surgery, in the place where her breast used to be, she had tattooed all the way from her shoulder across that side of her chest and down her side a beautiful, delicate vine of flowers that covered the entire area. It was the most beautiful tattoo I've ever seen...and I can only imagine what it means to her to put something so beautiful on something that would for many people who had never been affected by the disease be a disfigurement.
I searched forever to find this picture for you, but I couldn't find a great one, this one was scanned by someone and is pretty grainy...but here's a link. It's about halfway down the message board.

My boyfriend's brother has a tiny tattoo of his daughter standing in a strong wind. It's beautiful and symbolic because she died as a result of a tornado. That's what tattoos are all about: representation.
