Yes, it is an extremely serious problem. There have been many instances of Jews, Atheists and especially Moslems within the Armed Forces undergoing all kinds of pressure from within the ranks.
It appears to be part of the overall campaign (well underway) to turn your country into a Christian theocracy.

I was actually in the military for 4 years as active duty, and in the National Guard for a number of years afterward. While this film is somewhat shocking, it doesn't really tell much about the story.
Take the words of our President who said "I don't believe Witchcraft (or wicca, I don't remember) is a religion. It shouldn't be allowed in the military."
Or the story of Patrick Steward who after being killed in Iraq, had his wife and many others work for over a year to be able to get his emblem of faith on a tomb-stone.
The military has a great deal of regulations as to what a religion actually is. There are quite specific requirements to be a chaplain. In fact, Jesus Christ does not qualify to be a chaplain in the United States military, even if he was alive today.
The United States may not be an actual theocracy, but it's quite close.

With mild bemusement. Seems a completely different world to the British armed forces. Quite scary.

My husband is in the military, and we are Orthodox Christian. I don't know if it is because we are like living in the south or if it is a military thing, but if you are not protestant here you can not talk about your religious beliefs without being ready to have to defend them against the "fundies".

"We're here to preserve democracy, not practice it." -- Gene Hackman, portraying a Naval officer in the movie 'Crimson Tide'.
I think that sums it up.

There never was a problem before. Maybe political-correctness nazis are the ones fabricating a problem.
My dad was in the military for 20 years. Are YOU in the military? Or are you just paroting leftist drivel

Sad, and Christians wonder why we get just a little mad sometimes.
