Young children mimic what they hear. Who is he around that has a vulger mouth? The first step of action is to make sure that profanity is not used in your home and ask others to refrain from bad language in front of your child. Next, talk to your child. Children understand a whole lot more than adults give them credit for. Tell him that using bad words isn't nice and that you want him to stop. Tell him that when you hear him using bad words you will put him in the naughty chair. Then set him in a chair for 2 minutes. I am saying 2 minutes because the rule is one minute per each one year of the child's age. To have this work, you must be consistent and do it every time. If he throws a temper tantrum, you must be persistent and keep putting him back in the chair. Try not to do be angry or show that you upset, just be determined that he will stay in the chair for a full 2 minutes. Each time he gets up, you return him to the chair and you start the time over again. Also, you may try rewarding him each time he goes a full day without using bad language. Make a chart and tell him for every day he goes a full day without swearing you will let him choose one sticker to put on the chart. At the end of one week without swearing, reward him with a trip out for ice-cream, or a trip to the park...or a small toy or book. He'll soon learn that he gets a negative reaction from swearing, but rewarded when not swearing. Good luck!

Hi the only way you can do that is, to stop swearing in front of him or leaving him on company that uses fowl language all the time. If he doesnt stop it there is always wash his mouth out with soap, he will never swear again after that.

You dont want him growing up like one of the chav these days. Lord they are getting younger these days, starting at the age of too now. You need to nip it in the bud now as it will only get worse. If I swore or used a word that was considered rude or a swear word, I wouldnt of got laughted at I would of got a clout and sent to my room or mouth washed out with soap.

Where is he learning it from? If you are swearing in front of him, you should stop, and if it isn't you then you should not let whoever is swearing in front of him be around him. A child should also be told that swearing is for adults only and repeating these words will result in punishment.

Don't let him be around swearing. It's your fault he does it, he must have heard it from somewhere. Tell him it's naughty to swear and that mummy is naughty too (and whoever else swears). When any of you (yes that's parents too) swear you go on the naughty step. Maybe will make you think twice about it too.

He wont know he is swearing just repeats what he hears so fine the source and eliminate it or stop the swearing if it is in your own home. You cant punish the child when he doesn't know he is doing wrong.

first things first, stop swearing.
next you need to learn that negative reinforcement is just as strong as positive. ie if he swears he gets attention, he like attention so he keeps swearing, you need to ignore the behaviour and not reward it by a reaction.
