He is about a year old and we got him from the Humane Association two weeks ago. He's a Golden Retriever mix (weighs 38 lbs).

He's very energetic, so we walk him a lot, and it occurred about a half hour before his meal time, so I'm hoping he was just hungry or something? He's acting normal, happy, and alert. Had a normal bowel movement this morning.

Please let me know if you need any further information. Thanks in advance for your help!

No, don't worry about it if it only happened once.
Vomiting white foam repeatedly can be a sign of a bloat which is when the stomach twists, preventing anything from getting into or out of the stomach.
Watch for repeated vomiting or your dog not being able to hold his food down when he does eat, and also look for a distended abdomen.
Again, if it only happened once, it's nothing to worry about.

They say dogs tend to eat grass if they have an upset stomach. We just went through this two weeks ago with our dog she is now 7 1/2 months... she was sort of coughing gaging then throwing up white foamy stuff... of course the first time we were concerned and kept a close eye on her then she started doing it again and kept at it. I called the vet and they said to stop feeding her her food and make a mixture of ground beef and rice... be sure to boil the ground beef, make the rice and mix it together and don't feed her the rest of the first day and then start the next day feeding her small amounts a few times a day... we did this over the course of 7 days... after day 4 started mixing her reg food in small amounts and added more each day. She is now fine and not showing any problems and eating her normal food. Good Luck!

White foam is normal my friend - your dog just wants to up-chuck- the - s**t thats making his stomach hurt!!! You've an issue i feel with your step-mum but she's not to blame mate for whats going on with your dog! Take control if you really feel that your step-mum is not looking after the dogs properly, its an offence to neglect an animal in trouble! Take care mate and i hope you have lots of luck in taking charge here!

I think he's okay. More than likely just an empty belly.

After a walk, be sure he rests for at least 30 - 60 minutes before you feed him and then again after. That's really important to prevent bloat.

Wonderful that you adopted and that you're giving him lots of exercise!! Sounds like you're terrific dog parents!

Best of luck!

It sounds as though he may have eaten some grass while he was on his walk. This is nothing to be alarmed about since he is obviously not feeling bad- happy and alert. You would be concerned if he was not wanting to eat and was lethargic. It's good that you pay attention to those things though. It sounds like your dog got a good deal when you picked him out.

I think he should be just fine, but keep a close eye on him, my female lab does that once in awhile, and it's usually after she gets really excited or is playing alot, or she overdid it on the running around. So it's probably nothing serious if he is acting fine. If he does it again, I would probably talk to your vet just to be safe. Good Luck

Both my dogs do that on occasion - it's usually after eating grass. I don't know why they eat grass - they're both healthy - but they like to eat it.

Sometimes the little one eats rocks by accident, and throws them up. I would worry about it only if it continues and he seems sickly and doesn't get better.

IF it only happened once you houldn't have anything to worry about. this can be normal, just keep an eye on him and if it continues then seek a vet .
You shouldn't have any problems though.
