i think we need to try to do everything to stop it. it will one day ruin our world and it's disgusting what we already did to it.
go to stopglobalwarming.org to sign the online march. :)
i'm glad at least some people care.

Overall it's a bad thing, the negative impacts far outweigh the positive ones. However, it should be kept in perspective and it's worth bearing in mind that Hollywood and the media have a tendency to focus on the dramatic rather than the mundane.
Changes occasioned by global warming are slow and progressive and for many people they'll go almost un-noticed (it's a bit like when you see someone regularly, they never appear to change but look back at a photo of them 10 or 20 years ago and they've changed dramatically - global warming is the same, the changes are happening but largely go un-noticed).
Combatting global warming and climate change isn't easy. If we want to prevent any further damage we need to implement an overall reduction in greeenhouse gas emissions of 92.5%. This is way beyond our capabilities unless we revert to a lifestyle similar to that of 100 years ago. All we can do as individuals is to slow down the effects. To actually combat global warming needs a scientific approach, such as schemes that remove the greenhouse gases we've already added to the atmosphere and absorb our future emissions.
These are just a few points, having studied it for 24 years there's 1001 other things I could have included but you can imagine the length of the answer if I had.

Yes global warming is happening, but it is a natural cycle that the earth goes through. Other planets in our solar system are warming up as well/

Well, babaji, here's what I believe:
Global warming is a natural cyclical event that evolves over tens of thousands of years, allowing man, animals and plants to adapt to climate changes.
Man's Industrial Revolution of the past 150 years has simply escalated the natural cycle, and all Earthly creatures will NOT be able to adapt in time to survive.
It's man's arrogance, avarice, gluttony and selfishness that has created this threat to our world, and only man can change it. If we don't change it within ten years, you'll see parts of Florida and most of Bangladesh underwater; tens of millions of people living on both coasts of both major oceans will be displaced. Temperatures will become unbearable. Horrendous flooding, powerful hurricanes, and tornadoes will be commonplace, especially in coastal cities. Fresh water will not be available for the masses. Clean air will have to be breathed through gas-mask-like apparatus. The oceans will be decimated because our over-fishing didn't allow for sea life to proliferate. Rain forests will be gone, all because we needed more cattle grazing land so we could continue to eat cheap McDonald's hamburgers. Mangrove forests will be gone, having been replaced by luxury coastline hotels and resorts. Along with all those things will be millions of species of insects; polar bears; remote Eskimo tribes; elephants; exotic frogs from the Amazon basin; great white sharks; tsetse flies; humming birds; polar ice caps; trees; glaciers; Asian lions and thousands of other creatures. Once all of these species are gone, homosapiens will also become extinct. All because we didn't recognize how interdependent we are on every other species on Earth; because we failed to take our responsibility as stewards of the planet seriously; because we squandered all of Earth's natural resources all for our own greed, gluttony and comfort. -RKO- 10/21/07

According to the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) reports, we must reduce the world wide output of carbon dioxide to less than one tenth of what it is today, if we are to have any chance of stopping Global Warming and Climate Change.
The only way we can accomplish a reduction of that size is to have a World Wide ban on the use of fossil fuel. That is a world wide ban on the use of Coal, Oil and Natural gas.

From what I have read and observed, it is approaching the critical point. Already they say it is now too late to prevent catastrophe.
For a good accounting, read Popular Science, August 2007, "The Future of the Environment". Things are bleak, indeed.
As to observations, there are so many creeks and streams that are now dry that used to provide good fishing, as well as swimming, boating, etc.

There is nothing that can be done to stop it now, so what is there to think about? Should have thought about it when Americans were coming up with the way of living they can't be without now... You know what I mean. No where in the world there are as many cars & as big of homes, as much elumination at night, waiste...
