I've answered questions similar to this before. A very large part of America is made up by immigrants you might have been born in this country but if were to look back in your family tree I am 100% positive that they came fron elsewhere unless you are a Native American. So to all the 'Americans ' who read this think 'I am an american' look at your background before you discriminate other nationalities IT IS RACISM so unless you are an american Indian guess what you are an imigrant

Me?
Everyone, to some degree, is "ethnocentric".or "egocentric".
We filter all information to determine 1) social class 2) threat level 3) intelligence ...
Every detail including punctuation and accent are inspected to determine the appropriate level of respect and deference that the speaker deserves.
THEN we might get to the point that we evaluate the content of the message.
This is why we care about suits, cars, hair style, hair color, teeth, weight, height, and dozens of overt or subliminal factors.
As someone (I don't know who) once said, Everything we say or do carries the message, "You should be more like me."
If I buy a hybrid car, in addition to buying a form of transportation or trying to help the environment, I'm trying to communicate the message that You, if you were as smart as me, WOULD ALSO buy a hybrid.
Since you didn't instantly follow my example, you've proven yourself to be a numbskull.
In any case, post your question. There's always a chance that someone will take you seriously.
Good luck,
- CarlD

I just figured a lot of the poorly written postings were from people who were to lazy and careless to write a decent sentence. I mean YA has a spell checker. Why can't people even bother to check their spelling?
And the whole thing about using capital letters and lots of explanation points, and thinking that if you put question marks at the end of a statement it makes it a question: THAT IS JUST SO ANNOYING!!!!!???? I think such people deserve rude responses.
But, I agree we should be tolerant towards ESL people.

Because there is an Answers International board for you people. If you're gonna play with the big boys, you gotta play by the rules. Besides, there are a lot of stupid kids here that can't spell and have no concept of grammar. They deserve all the disrespect they get. Who wants to take the time to descipher their gibberish?

I have never once been rude to someone who doesn't speak English so well. Yes, I realize that there are people from other countries in here. Most of those who do that are kids.

Generally I try not to be. I get impatient with people who can obviously speak the language fluently, but choose to write LYK THS W/OUT NE PROPR GRAMMR. Those who are simply struggling with a difficult language they don't fully know, I try to understand and respond patiently to.
And yes, the point a person makes is more important then the way they try to speak it.

Some people don't take the time to determine whether a person is just not fluent in English, or if they are just too lazy to speak English correctly.

There are also other instances where people can't SPEAK english right but they know all the grammar rules and everything and people still try to pick on them saying they can't speak english while they don't know most of the grammar and punctuation themselves. I don't know why it's like that.

I know English well. But live in an area where a lot of people with french ancestors still speak french. And they do it in front of those of us that do not know the French they are using.
That is called bad Etiquette.

They are just rude people in general. They do not want to take the time to understand other people is all. We all have our own language that was probably foreign at some time from our ancestors.
