Ok, so my distance cousin has a Rottweiler mix that he neglects and abuses, his father (my uncle) has been telling him that he has to clean up his act or the dogs gone. My uncle goes over evry day to feed him and give him water. The animal control took the dog from him once but they got him back. They asked us if we could take him but my mom told him that we couldn't because we already have two large dogs. I'm trying to talk my mom into letting us take him for a couple of days until we could find him a porper home but my mom says no. If you were in this situation wouldn't you have a heart enough to take him in at least until the right home is found? What would you do?

Oh my gosh! He needs that dog taken away! But if I were talking to your mom right now I would say take that dog in! I can't believe she won't take it but you need to show her this answer because she should take that dog in now and give it a good home! I feel so sorry for that poor dog!

I would keep him at least until a good home is found...and my family has in the past taken over care of other family member's animals.

Let me warn you (and this may be part of your mother's thinking) big problems can arise between family in a situation like this. I still have a parent and an uncle who are furious with each other over a sick dog many many years ago.

My heart really goes out to the dog, but as they say, mom always knows best. Perhaps you can work on finding him a new home asap. Start asking friends and neighbors and check with local vet offices to see if they have any patients who will foster/adopt this dog. Good luck!

For the sake of the dog, bust your cousin to Animal control again. Make them aware of the fact that this is not the first time they have been called on this case.
If you mom says no, then until you can Calmly and rationally convince her otherwise, then the golden rule applies:"He who controls the gold makes the rules".
Good luck and hopefully your uncle won't just take the dog away by dumping it at the pound.

My heart says I would take the dog home in a heartbeat. The unfortunate part is that it is difficult to find people willing to take the responsibility of an abused and neglected dog. Your mom might not want the responsibility of another dog and an abused one at that.

I'd report it to the Humane Society (again)... or to the Sheriff's dept.
