why do people LABEL people? What is an atheist? Do you believe they are just because they don't believe in the Christian God, or the catholic God, or the Mormon God?
There is but 1 Great Spirit, and it doesn't matter what group a person is in to. The Christians and all the others have done a great job, turning people away from believing because of all the hypocritical crap they give out.
We should study the animals more, they do not discriminate against others. They only kill for food, they only mate with their own kind.
Yeah I would let an atheist watch my kids, if I could trust them as a person. Religion has nothing to do with it.

I am an athiest...and my religion has never come up in conversation with my MANY babysitting jobs. I am trusted for other things that i do, not things that i believe. (not saying morals go into that, im saying things i believe, as in, God, or No god)

So, no i dont think it should matter, i personally have all the morals of a christian...I was brought up with christian parents, and in a United methodist church, but after my mother died, and (being members of that church for 17 years) nobody called, not even the pastor....and i had time to think to myself, i changed my beliefs in any god at all....but my morals stayed the same...

so, to make a long story short... I am still a good person, and i can still be a good babysitter etc....(hope this helps)

I don't think it matters, thinking along the same lines..would you allow a Catholic to babysit your kids? You hear about Catholic priests molesting Children, when did you here about rampant abuse of children by Atheist? Contrary to what people have been programmed to believe, Christians do not hold the rights and license on morality.
Edit= The guy- you need God to tell you what is right or wrong? People know right from wrong, if you are depnding upon God to determine that for you then you are seriously impaired-even if they don' t believe in Spiritual consequences, they better believe in the legal consequences.

As long as they don't criticize my religion/philosophy, or try to convert my children that is fine. I believe that children should learn about all religions, not just the one they are brought up in. I will teach my children what I believe, but I won't force them to believe it-if they believe something else, then that's fine. But as long as the person doesn't discriminate, that's fine. That would be just an atheist posting somewhere and asking if someone would let a christian babysit their kids-religion should not have any say in the matter unless it is against your moral beliefs (ex.: animal sacrificing, devil worship, etc...)

Im not an atheist, but I dont think there's anything wrong with them...thats almost like not wanting to have a teacher because their a different gender , or not trusting someone because they're of a different race. Actually, I think it would be good for the kid to be around different kinds of people to learn to be open to all sorts of things

Im athiest with 3 children and very high morals. I love my children more then anything and I am raising them to be happy and healthy with a strong since of right and wrong. I have several friends who are christian and they have me babysit all the time, they also tell me Im the only one they trust with there babies.
So YES I would let an athiest watch my children as long as they are a good moral person.
peace

Um.....yes?
Why wouldn't I? Atheists are people. People don't have to share my views to be trustworthy. I would trust an Atheist to babysit, exactly the same as I would trust a Christian, Bhuddist or Muslim to babysit. Whether I trust the person themself is far more important them my view on their faith.

Religion should be something the parents teach, so having an atheist babysitting shouldn't be an issue. Just make sure he\she keeps it to herself.

Why not? They are people too, just like you. They just have different beliefs is all. It does not mean that they will try and poison your childs mind. If you know and trust the person, what makes you think their religous beliefs are going to matter anyway? Just let the person know, that you are a Christian, or whatever, and don't want any religious discussions with your children. If they are very young children, they aren't going to care anyway.

We are just way too uptight in this country.

I don't think that traditional or untraditional worship makes a person a good sitter.

We got a kid out of our Protestant church youth group to babysit our 3 year-old. When I took my son to the Police Department to be video-taped showing with dolls what they had done together, I almost lost my lunch. The Satan worshipper sitter took him for a walk and waited for her boyfriend outside a bar.
