If you've done or do this, do you explain how your understanding of the verse relates? If not, how come? The reason why I ask is because I see a lot of answers in which there are a couple verses and thats it.
I find this as annoying as a copied-and- pasted wiki page for an answer. Does anyone else?
Let me just say this before I continue, I don't find the Bible itself bothersome. It's annoying when some use it to back up their beliefs and doesn't put their understanding of it into their own words.
I mean, the Bible is not self-explanatory, if it was, there wouldn't be such a disagreement on the content of it today. There could be many interpretations to a verse. So why do you believe some Christians don't explain their thinking further than the scriptures they decide to use? Thanks:-)

It appears that you are letting off a little steam. OK. I'm guilty of doing what you have said; more so lately than previously, but still not a lot. I've found that very few people on this forum really want answers to their questions, they're either venting (like you) or looking to see if there are others that believe the same as they, and worst of all, the many who... well, I won't get into that right now.
One of the reasons I do it is because Jesus said not to "cast our pearls before swine." That is, we should be careful of who we open up the hidden meaning of the Scriptures to.
On that score, I would like to address what you said about interpreting the Bible. Peter wrote, "knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation" (2Pe 1:20). And Isaiah wrote:
But the WORD OF THE LORD [the Bible] was to them [unbelievers], "Precept upon precept, precept upon precept, Line upon line, line upon line, Here a little, there a little," That they might go and fall backward, and be broken And snared and caught (Isaiah 28:13).
By these Scriptures (and others) we believe that the Bible will interpret itself. Those who get other interpretations are either taking things out of context, applying a meaning not mentioned in the Bible, not getting all the pertinent Scriptures or just twisting a Scriptures meaning to fit with their own a priori concepts.
Even simple doctrines can be a little time consuming to detail (I don't keep a large list of doctrinal proofs in my cupboard -- I try to address each person's questions individually), and I've grown tired of the general attitude of this forum. Because Jesus spoke truly of these people:
"For the hearts of this people have grown dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, And their eyes they have closed, Lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, So that I should heal them' " (Matthew 13:15).
In other words, they don't want to know the truth.
Was that explained enough? If you want to know more, just E-mail me.

Some people think that scripture is the answer to all things but really it's not. Scripture is like a tool and if not used properly can end up leaving a person hurt and confused. As for the christians who leave bible verses as answers they aren't really answering the question but rather pushing their religion again into view.

I would say that The Bible IS
self - explanatory, and when I use a Scripture as an answer it is because it answers the question perfectly, and needs no explanation.

Do you really want an answer two miles long giving all the different interpretations to a verse. Not that many verses have more than one interpretation.

I only post verses and nothing else when I think the verse is perfectly clear as to what it means.

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
