As long as you were making fun for the sake of humor or entertainment, and not to degrade or show prejudice towards others, simply tell her you happen to be a Christian. I find it necessary to be able to laugh at yourself before you can laugh at another.

If you're that embarassed of your faith, you might want to find out why. You shouldn't have been making fun of your own faith. That speaks louder to your friend than anything you can say to her now. It sounds like you're now sorry and are looking to change things. I'd just tell her, "Hey, remember the other day, when we both laughed at those people building that church....well, I really shouldn't have done that, and I'm really sorry. I don't know what got into me, and I gave you the wrong impression. Please forgive my foolishness". Then, see where that takes you. She might just shrug it off and tell you to forget it. But, she'll remember that you did that, and it might make a difference some time down the road. I even know why you did it. Lots of people have done it too. They want the other person or people to like them, so they make fun of something that they actually believe in & support, just to show them that they're not very serious about it. They think they're relieving an awkward moment, when they're actually making one. It throws the other person off balance at first. Then, the other person realizes that you aren't as serious about your faith as you pretend to be. If you really believe in something, don't back down just to be popular. Someone may be watching you, hoping that you'll stand up for something, instead of falling for anything. Be proud of who you are, but temper that with humility and love. It will shine through, in the long run. <*)))><

Were you just being silly or was there something offensive said.? I mean, if you said something like "I can't believe they named their church 'Gates of Heaven Ministry' because they are right next door to a McDonald's," that's not being intentionally offensive. That's just a joke. On the other hand, if this person is really your friend, they will understand if you tell them that what was said left you uncomfortable.

Katelyn,
She and you do not seem to be following the teachings of your religions anyway. Why don't you both begin by studying one another's beliefs and begin having tolerance for every person's beliefs. That would be a healthy way to learn from this. Don't you agree? Have a great week.
Thanks,
Eds

You want to tell her what ?
* That you + your friend have been making fun of the people who where building a church on her road ? ( whose road btw ? )
* That the church is of your religion ?
* thatg she is a buddist ?
* that you are a christian ?
really it is uncomprehensible to me what you want to tell her.
