I'm currently taking my second year in German and its one of the easiest classes I have ever taken. I get nearly 100 percent on every quiz/test. Nearly because i am a horrible speller. Conjucating verbs, sentence structure is so easy and simple, but many people say its hard. Right now we're studying the "hard" stuff with the past tense particle or something like that.
Ex: I have played= Ich habe gespielt. I have invited= Ich habe eingeladen.
Even conjucating irregular verbs are easy. ex: He invited...= Er ladt...ein with those umlouts above the a.
I find it so easy because its just memorizing. Maybe cause im good at that. The only trouble i have is listening cause they speak like those guys at the auctions.
heck, i have a better grade in german than i do in english.

Ok, I just had to say something to a couple of the stupid posts on here.

English and German are NOT offshoots of Latin. Much of their vocabulary may be Latin-based, particularly English's, but both are Germanic languages in their syntax, evolution, conjugations, etc. They are really only naturally related to Latin because they are all on the Indo-European branch.

And kid, you got talent. That's it. Parts of your brain work better than others, and other parts don't. Real German is more than just learning from a book and logically putting stuff together according to rules, as is any language. Verstehen sie?

Ask a real question next time, ok?

EDIT: Hmm, seems a poster deleted his posted post now...

You must be in high school because when I took a German course in college we were already learning past tense participles by the end of the semester. You might not find German as easy if you had to learn everything you learned in the past two years in four months. That is what college is like.

To answer your question I will just say that I found German very hard...much harder than Spanish or Italian. All of the conjugations for articles and the convoluted sentence structure was mind boggling. The pronunciation, consonant clusters and arbitrary rules about plural forms of nouns was also very difficult to comprehend. I always wanted to learn German but I was disappointed when I found out after taking that German class that it would take me six lifetimes to learn it. Ah well, there's always Spanish which is much easier and which we have much more use for here in America.

UPDATE: Just to comment on what other people said about German and English being cousin languages: it is true that there are many cognates in German and English but there are also many false cognates as well. For example, the words for "book," "house" and "bed" in both languages are identical or almost identical but the word "rock" in German doesn't mean what it means in English. A "rock" in German is a "skirt" and "gift" means "poison." When you say, "Ich will" in German you are really saying, "I want," etc.... I'm not sure how the similarities between the two languages actually helps that much.

The structure of the German language is closer to English's structure than any other language on the planet, even Spanish. I find German very easy, too. People who don't do well in German typically don't do well in their English class either.

I was like that when I took German. The German language is very similar to English.
Also, you may just be very good at learning languages in general. Some people are good at it and others aren't. Try taking another language later and see how you do in that one.

Because you're good at memorizing. Me too. I dare you to move to Switzerland like I did though!

Have you dealt with the prepostions that can be Akkusativ or Dativ yet? Do you actually know the gender for nouns?

well, to be honest, most european languages (including english) is just an offshoot of latin, and all are usually similar sounding, like the word ''I'' is ich which is quite similar sounding, try learning russian its kinda hard! and there is more than just pronounciations and individual words to be learnt, there is there whole writing system and a whole new set of alphabetic symbols to memorise, its rather difficult!
