As an American Catholic we also celebrate November 1 and 2. Some people also celebrate Halloween and some Harvest festivals. Just depends

These type of celebrations in the Americas were derived from the indigenous people of North and South America.

Honoring the dead was part of the sacred rites and ceremonies among the natives of both continents. There were different rituals among different tribes and civilizations but they all accomplished the same purpose; that of remembering their ancestors.

For an extreme example, Google or track down a good book on the so-called "Natchez Bone-Pickers"......

When "christianity" was brought in to the mix, the indigenous folks merely wrapped their own rituals around this "new" thing and it is that combination you see today.

Almost every culture in the world had ancient ceremonies honoring those who have died. It usually took place after the harvest was in and they had plenty of time on their hands.....

Hence, October and November.

Halloween is actually the Holy Eve before All Saints day

CHristians used to carry pumpkins with smiles because of the spirits who are blessed by being redeemed, where pagans had frowning pumkins

No !!!!!! The Bible says that the dead don't know anything.
And it also says that you are not to communicate with them.

Halloween is a pagan holiday just like christmas.
