Galatians 5:22-23 tells us, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control..." The fruit of the Holy Spirit are the results of the Holy Spirit taking a role in the life of a Christian.

I have seen many Chistian Denominations bashing not only their doctrinal differences here on R & S, but also throwing personal instults and name calling. Is this the work of Jesus in your heart? If it is not Jesus, then who is it?

(((Beano))) Your fruit is very evident. Your love especially. I just wish it was contagious.

I think this tie in with another portion of scripture that is a favorite of mine, James, 3:1-12.

In these verses, James speaks about the untamable tongue, or the words we speak. He compares the tongue to a bit in a horses mouth, sayin that with that bit we turn the whole horses body. The same is with our tongue, or words. It can turn our heart, and speaks what is from the heart, even though we will deny it. James tells of the tongue being able to defile the whole body.

Man tames every wild animal or beast, being above them all, but one cannot tame the tongue, only God can do that for us, by taming our hearts, and making them pure.

We cannot be ok with God if we are not ok with those around us. As Matthew 15 states, it is not what goes into our mouth that defiles the body, but what comes out.

As Christians, God calls us to reflect our Lord Jesus Christ in everything we do. We can only do this by allowing Him to change our hearts. Our words, even those we type here, defile the whole, if we are not speaking of love and loving others.

Thanks for the timely reminder.

God bless.

All that a Christian says and does, either in the real or virtual world, should reflect the fruits of the spirit and bring glory to God. The problem is we are human as well and speak or act without thinking. Once we think about the words or actions we know they were wrong and need to repent, apologize to those we harmed, and try not to do it again. We all need to think about our actions and/or words before doing or speaking. Might also have to bite our tongues or count to 10 to curb malicious speech as we think about an appropriate way in which to respond.

As a Christian I believe that my answers reflect the guidance of the Holy Spirit. How my answers are received by others depends on their own heart and whether or not the Holy Spirit is working in them.

Personally I do not bash or put down any other beliefs I use this forum to witness for Jesus. When we belittle other beliefs we turn the listener off and if they do not listen we cannot reach them for Jesus. We make it hard for others to want to hear the word and it also has the side effect of portraying us as hypocrites when we teach Jesus with our lips and walk like Satan in our actions.

Does the Holy Spirit lead and guide you? If not then we'll take things personal. We don't need to speak or respond with hate or anger. If the Spirit is helping me, this response won't occur. If I am acting in my flesh, then anger and ugliness will occur. God bless

Yes, I believe the Holy Spirit works through all believers, however the "old Adam" does seem to peak through at times.

As Luther said, we ARE Saints and sinners at the same time!

Well put. Amen! A fabulous direction for discerning spirits, and upkeeping the lessons taught and brought forward from God through Jesus Christ. We are all short of God's Glory and Honor, and must remember to remain humble not only in His presence but in the presence of our neighbors. God Bless You and Keep You.

I often remember the tired, worn out question "What Would Jesus Do?", and wish I could ask these so-called "Christians" if they think they are being very Christ-like in their postings here, and in my daily dealings with some fundamentalists.

I've tried to convey the same thing before, but I've also been guilty of an insulting attitude myself, at times. I'm glad His mercy is renewed every day, & I can be forgiven for back-slides when they happen. I TRY to keep them to a minimum. Keep reining us in, as needed -- we're all supposed to be ministers of His Word, & examples of His love. Peace!

Thank-you for asking this question. I suppose anything else I say might be misconstrued by some as not being kind or loving.
