You can take her to the doctor and have the wound looked at. A lot of people are really scared about MRSA because of all the media coverage, so to be on the safe side have it looked at.
The best way to avoid getting any kind of infection is to be sure to wash your hands and practice good hygiene. Keep your wounds or cuts clean and covered and wash, wash, wash your hands!!

My first question is this: Did she actually see the spider that bit her? I had a staph infection a couple of months ago and that is the first question the doctor asked me. It started out looking like a mosquito bite but was a little painful and not at all itchy. It also had a little, teeny puss pocket/white head in the center. So, it made since to me that it would be a spider bite. However, I was wrong. The redness kept spreading into a larger circle around the center puss pocket. After about four days it was about four inches in diameter, but not really painful. The doctor gave me two antibiotics and an antibiotic cream.
If in doubt, she should definitely see a doctor.

Yes, MRSA(I am guessing you are speaking of that) does resemble a spider bite in the very beginning but quickly evolves to a deep open sore and gets very pus-filled and ulcerated. I would have her go to the doc and check it out just to rule out that possibility! I hope she gets better and that it is not that!
