My friend who works at applebees makes about 8.50 an hour but they don't give him many hours because they suck!

anywhere from minimum wage to quite a bit. Celebrity chefs make millions and a high end cook can make over 50 k a year. Average would be in the 24 to 30 k per year.

ha! when you say cook, i assume you mean a real cook, like fine dining. they make b/t $300 and $400, depending on experience and performance. it takes a while to start making money in the business, but eventually you work your way up to saucier, or sous chef and make a little more. when you become chef, that's when the money starts to come in. however, in this business, the rewards are not about the money.

When doing the university catering scene and teaching culinary arts, I made upwards of 85K a year. I am now retired and run the kitchen and catering for a local pub and make 60K a year.

My best paying one was $12.50/hr starting wage. I got an offer for $15/hr starting, but turned it down because I was burned out.
