I mean, I know there are bad cops, but there are a hell lot of good cops, so why do people keep on attacking on all cops


i blame the media, never putting on what a good cops have done, always putting on what the bad cops done, SHAME on the media.

I have never seen a profession where the reputation of so many good people can be destroyed by the actions of so few.

I agree the press is a driving factor, a good cop is boring news, but a bad cop makes national headlines. It doesn't help that these incidents are repeated on the news at a higher rate than most anything else. In reality, over 99 pecent of police contacts involve no use of force. Of course, that makes for boring news, so they concentrate on the other 1 percent.

The next problem is TV... shows like NYPD Blue and The Shield frequently show bad practices. What Hollywood percieves as good TV is not always realistic.

I think that most people have the wrong idea of what a Police Officer is supposed to do. Some Police have the wrong idea of what common citizens are doing. All in all, it's a general communication breakdown on both ends of the spectrum. Add the media & what you have is what you see...more chaos. I had the great pleasure of having a one-on-one with an off duty undercover Officer from LAPD. I asked him what percentage of his fellow Officers were walking in the light, as opposed to those who were walking in the dark, & he quickly said, "I am one of the 3% or less who is in the light & although I am outnumbered, I never let that stop me from doing what I know is right!" Can you imagine what these people are going through on a daily basis? They are true Warriors. I commend anyone who has the stamina to put on a uniform & become a public target. The majority of the public seems to be getting more dishonest on a daily basis, which also might have something to to with the dislike of anyone in law enforcement! I happen to be a Native Californian & have seen things change DRASTICALLY in the last 10 years. The criminal element comes to my state in droves due to the lack of enough people to successfully Police & educate them! The only option left is to simply incarcerate them!

i think its several things; iconic images of police assaulting protestors during the civil rights movement. rampart, rodney king, and the recent inccident here in LA at the immigration rally. This is a case of heuristics rather than statistics.
there is also a class issue. if you are trying to make it in this world and barley scraping by odds are you might brake a law or two. take for example immigrants working two jobs having now license but still driving. when a cop pulls them over the expeirence there will be told to there family and friends. i know of several illegal immigrants who have been treated like ^%#$ by the authorities. Its a deeper issue than this message bord could ever handle.
I respect all men and women of the law from the moment i come in contact with them but when those few bad apples who are drunk with power an authority cross my path i can't help but feel a spite the next time i see an officer. it sucks but it happens.
Finally i have a friend who works the beat for LAPD he is an jerk. but with the crap he has told me he kinda has to be. and people need to keep that in mind. when we go to work we never have to think twice about someone trying to hurt us. we don't wear clothes that essentially makes us walking targets to some.

Actually my dear, the police are being taught a lot of things that do not go along with the Constitution. They enforce the powers that be and it is time for civil disobedience. Almost all police officers have control issue problems, it is the very reason they are in a job of control. Most police officers do not question what is right or wrong they follow what has been fed them. Hence you have the police attacking We the People.

I'm afraid people are not getting their opinion of the police from just the media. Many, many people have had bad experiences with policemen/women. You are right that a lot of them are good people who risk their lives on a daily basis, but a big portion of them have really got an attitude and don't always follow their rules when answering a call.

That is the problem with media. They only see the bad in people. Police have it the worst because they are attacked the most. They get a bad reputation especially because they are supposed to be the most trusted people. I would just ignore the people. They can have their own opinions. Just let them imagine what it's be like WITHOUT police. Chaos I tell you.

WHEN EVER ONE DEALS WITH AN OFFICER, IT IS NOT AT ONE OF THE BEST DAYS IN THEIR LIVES.(TICKET, ACCIDENT, DUI, DRUGS, SHOOTING, HIGH SPEED CHASE, BURGLARY ETC.)

DOES THAT MAKE SENSE NOW? HOW ELSE DO WE KNOW EACH OTHER OOOOH SOOOO WELL? ALMOST ALWAYS ON A ONE SIDED EVENT THAT, THEY FEEL THAT WE (ALL POLICE) MISTREATED OR ABUSED THEM. THEY ALWAYS SAY THAT THEY WERE CUSSED OUT AND TOLD TO SHUT UP. DID IT EVER OCCUR TO YOU ALL, THIS IS PROBABLY BECAUSE WE HAVE HEARD THEIR STORY, LAME DUCK EXCUSESS, FOR 2-8 YEARS FOR MOST, OR UNTIL THEY GO TO PRISON, OR JAIL? THIS IS A PERIOD CALLED TAKE A BREAK FROM SOCIETY AND IT'S RULES AND GO TO PRISON WHERE YOU CAN ABIDE BY THE RULES OR DROWNED. THE POLICE, THE COURTS AND SOCIETY WILL NOT BE MISSING YOU AND YOUR ATTITUDE. I MEAN TO SAY POINT BLANK. EVERYONE KNOWS WHO YOU ARE, A PAIN IN THE RECTUM AS A NEIGHBOR, A WORKER, A LAW VIOLATOR. Don't blame the media, sweetheart. Blame the cops themselves.

Those the media portrays are only the ones caught on camera. We all know that a roach in the kitchen hides an infestation behind the walls.

Don't claim that it is only one or two bad apples spoiling the bunch. The rest have not yet been caught on tape. But their time is coming, thanks to technological advances.

Probably because a dick cop is in more spotlight then say a dick mechanic. It's also the fact the position of power a cop is in society expects more from them.
