Can tempera paints or poster paints be used to paint on metal?

Doing a little horseshoe decorating for the kids at our barn.... will these paints work on metal? i want some cheap paints that will work on metal, if they dont work, any suggestions?

No but enamel paint works on metal or you can use the acrylic lacquer spray paints.

You need to prime your metal before painting it. Gesso would be nice. It should work as well as on paper..... it will be still subject to water damage.

no they wont but spray paints will,krylon or monatana is fine.
