I see all the time on here that religions are intolerant of others. That we need to accept different religions and people of different sexualities. People constantly tell us we need to practice tolerance. Where is the tolerance for us? Why are we not given tolerance? Why is everyone supposed to be tolerant of everything except Christianity?

Pangel (((((HUGS))))) - I will fully admit I am intolerant. I serve Jesus and He is intolerant as well. I will not accept sin. I don't care how politically correct it is. I will not accept other religions. Quite frankly they are false and I have no intention of ever saying otherwise. I think tolerance is highly overrated. I just find it funny that people who preach tolerance are so intolerant to Christianity.

If people were truly tolerant then shouldn't they be able to tolerate someone being intolerant?

Midge - you are the one who seems to think Catholics are better than all other Christians. I think all Christians are equal in the eyes of God. Just because I think the Catholic church is wrong in somethings does not mean I don't think their are Christians in the Catholic church.

Tolerance is the buzz word that has been chosen to trash christians. If you try to defend christianity as a tolerant religion you will lose the debate. The next time someone tells you that chritianity is intolerant, look them straight in the face, smile, and tell them this...

"The Bible is the most intolerant book ever written and Jesus is the most intolerant speaker to ever address an audience because he said 'I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no one comes to the Father except by Me' "

Grace is available to all free of charge but it is only available through Christ.

Tolerance is a two-way street and there can be no favoritism and no exceptions so tolerance includes Christians. People must accept that they live around others with traditional religions and that separation of church and state (and all other religions) applies across the board to everyone, not to just Christians and Jews ('white, Western, European') with exceptions for followers of other religions (seen as 'nondominant, a racial concern, etc.'). Race and ethnicity are not aligned with religion and multiculturalism is not about group rights based on religion.

I always try to encourage tolerance here
I am tolerant of just about everything but intolerance
I am tolerant and respectful of Christianity ... but intolerant of some Christians ( or anyone for that matter ) who show intolerance to others

you cannot claim to be tolerant and have intolerance of any group of people as a whole ... because not everyone in that group is undeserving of tolerance and respect

I will openly say that I am intolerant. And why should I have to tolerate things that God has clearly stated are wrong?

I think part of the problem with society, and why we continue to allow more and more sin is because we are afraid of being intolerant, or not being politically correct. I believe that Christians as a whole need to stand strong for what is right and what is wrong, and be willing to be pursecuted, and told we are intolerant. That, my friends, is a compliment.

However, that being said, I do NOT think that being intolerant of sin means being rude, nasty, or unloving to the sinner. After all, we are all sinners. It is our love that will help plant the seeds of the Lord, for Him to water and nuroush and calls His children to Him.

It is ok to be intolerant. It is ok not to want to be yoked with unbelievers, and not to support gay rights, or abortion. Do it in Jesus' name, with LOVE.

God bless.

Caution: Severe generalization ahead.

Its because Christians aren't tolerant of anyone else! If you don't give tolerance, why should you receive it? Its a vicious cycle.

If Christians weren't so preoccupied with who other people fall in love with and how other people worship, no one would hold any resentment towards you. You don't hear homosexuals arguing against a straight person's right to marry. You don't hear Wiccans demanding that all children in public schools break into covens and cast circles every morning. You don't hear Hellenic Pagans demand that the story of how Gaia and Uranus had sexual intercourse and created the world be taught in science classes (even though I know you guys don't REALLY believe that I'm just making a point). And you don't hear Satanists demanding that "The Nine Satanic Statements" should be posted everywhere.

You get the picture?

Edit. There's a difference between being tolerant and being a doormat, precious.

The fact that Christians are not tolerated is a sign that they stand for the truth, because the world won't stand for the truth.

In the world Christians aren't tolerated any more than the truth is.

Nor should they be by those who will not repent. If they are tolerated by the unrepentant then they are not letting their light shine.

You must show tolerance to expect to receive it back, and many of the Christians in this country are about the most intolerant people you'll ever meet. And most people are tolerant of Chrisitanity until the believers start sticking their beliefs in places where they don't belong and condemning anyone who speaks up to say that's wrong.
Hey, James, spending some time on YA while your white sheet's in the wash? Have we ever once had a President who wasn't a Christian white male? 'nuff said.

I am tolerant of Christianity. It's when they are not that I become in tolerant of the person, not the religion.

You are tolerated until you try to insert your religion into everyone elses lives whether they want it or not. If you Christians would butt out, you'd find a lot less opposition.

Btw, people also aren't tolerant of Islam so you are not going to play the victim. Knock it off. People of your religion have spent the last 2000 years treating everyone else like crap. What did you expect? That we'd all just grin and continue to bare it without protest?

I don't think that anyone is saying except different religions....all they are saying is to respect them .

Tolerance is not given it is learned through practice.
