My wife has covered half the carpet in our house with "cute little rugs" and they look fine to me. I think it will look fine on your carpet, especially since it is a very neutral color.

It will look great and have you seen the cute rugs in the shape of butterflies, chicks, flowers. Try one of these to brighten your room.

Both my children have carpet with cute shaped carpets on top... it looks fine. I as well have a shag carpet on top of my carpet in front of the bookcase. Looks nice.

Great, if you do it right!
First, get bedding and curtains in a color or print you love.
Second, pick a light or medium color from the print to do your walls.
Third, use a darker or brighter color for rug.
Fourth, use the wall color, the rug color, and one more color you like [ from print ] and repeat those colors in accessories: pillows, a reading chair, lamps, vases, ornaments, flowerpot or planter, candles.
Fifth, frameall art in similarcolor and materials - oak/walnut, brass/chrome, colored enamel.
