Should the drinking age be lowered to 18 ?

With regrets I will answer yes. I am well over 18, chuckle I could have grandchildren older than 18, I am also a near non-drinker.

A few days ago there was an article in the local newspaper about a young man who was killed in the war in Iraq. He was only 19,

He was responsible enough to vote, he was responsible enough to enlist in the armed forces, he was responsible enough to die fighting in a war, but he was not responsible enough to make a decision as to whether or not he should drink.

I just think that is wrong. I opposed teenage drinking, but I thing the playing field should be level

It should. The drinking age is 18 in many other countries. People need to face facts that kids are going to drink and if they don't have to SNEAK to drink, they probably won't guzzle as much jungle juice as they can without getting caught and deveop a drinking problem.

Yes. By having the drinking age high, america makes alcohol this taboo thing, therefore putting more of an appeal on it, which increases consumption.

Yes. I think more teens drink because it's illegal. If it were legal it wouldn't be as "exciting".
