You dont just become a wiccan/wich You have to feel it, Breath it. Love it. It has to be you. You will know once you have found your wiccan inside you. Your religion is your choice. No matter what it is. You have to feel it.
Weather it takes one day or one year, You have to understand it. Can you call yourself anything if you do not have the facts or the Information to back it up? No. There are alot of people who are Wiccans You can join a meeting/group and discuss this with them. They will help you and get you involved in whatever you beleave in and would like to know. I sound weird writing all this. lol
With anything, Does it take you one day to learn? You keep learnng new things everyday. You cant stop yet. .... I still have to learn how to spell :D

You're Wiccan the second you believe you're. You might not be an excessively well Wiccan, you may also, correctly, be a crappy Wiccan, however the yr and the day does now not avert you from being clueless or make you now not clueless. Indeed, many humans with a long time and days at the back of them are clueless. UNLIKE the name "Witch" or the name "One of the Wica" and even the name Wicca (for a male) or Wicce (for a feminine) the name of Wiccan, used to consult a PERSON, as a noun (good, as an adjective with the noun individual implied) IS NOT OWNED by means of any culture. It is a brand new name, and very nearly meaningless in the case of implying capability or advantage. (Unless prefaced by means of a culture kind, or an adjective describing a kind of Wiccan.) In regards to the remark: "ninety nine% of of Wiccans might now not be regarded Wiccan by means of Gardner. A majority of Wiccans at present are "Eclectic", at the same time such a lot covens have been began by means of Eclectic Wiccans." This is flawed. ninety nine% of "Wiccans" might now not be regarded WITCHES by means of Gardner. Gardner might haven't any clue what the heck a Wiccan (certainly if stated Wick-en) used to be.

actually you are mixing a few (ceremonies) to be a wiccan, takes believing what they do & doing what they do same as a witch! you get dedicated to your deity & if you have to go through a from of ceremony to do so it is as long as it takes to learn it or get it done. a marriage on the other hand is a year and a day If at that last day you no longer want to be married it is called off. if you stay married after that time is you are married for life!

A year and a day is the amount of time given to an initiate to learn the basics and decide if they wish to be initiated into a coven. Until that time is up and the choice is made the initiate is not a full member.

Traditional Wiccan covens generally require AT LEAST a year and a day of training before initiating someone. I recommend Eclectics take at least that long before the dedicate so that they are sure of their choice and have a good foundation before going to gods and pledging themselves to them.

That is the amount of time most covens and solitaries believe it takes an individual to learn what they need to in order to determine if that's the path they want to take.
I don't personally agree with it but to each their own.

It's tradition, and it's a minimum, not a maximum.
I think if you find a legitimate tradition, you'll find the reasons well elucidated, and if you can't find a decent trad, then it's really not going to matter why, is it?
