What does this say about those who set false dates for the end of the earth?

And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. - Acts 1:7 KJV.

Of course they are. No man can know the mind of god. There are just a lot of people out there that are hoping for their 15 min of fame in proclaiming this, delusional, or have actually convinced themselves that they know something the rest of the universe doesnt. People have been proclaiming it is the end times since shortly after the crucifiction. Hasnt happened yet.

I look at the scripture and take it literally. We cannot know the "EXACT TIME" of the beginning of the end times. We could already be in the end times? We could be very close? We could be waiting for all nations to know of the gospels of Jesus of Nazareth?

End of the world date setters prey off of those that seek the word of Yashua but may not be as well versed as to understand that there are Scriptures telling us that we cannot know and we should not try to set dates. Its counter productive in my opinion. However even the disciples thought that Jesus of Nazareth was coming sooner rather than later? We just need to understand that the spreading of the gospels are the key to the start of this prophecy. I have generalized but hope most would have constructive debate when studying prophecy. There are so many that think it wise to second guess the word. I hope and pray that most learn from study and not only from individuals when it comes to the best selling book of all time?

See also Matthew 24:36 and following. the point is that we (Christians) are to be ready for whenever the Lord comes back. We are NOT to set a time. Many so-called experts have looked foolish doing just that. They think they can look at some "sign" and mark a date on the calendar. The "End Times" are now, but that does not give us an exact date, but we are to be ready. We also need to be zealous in sharing our faith with as many people as possible before our Lord comes back. For a good commentary on Revelation go to www.confessionallutherans.org and look for the paper on Revelation.

This is not the only place in Scripture where people are warned about predicting the end of the world.

You'd think they'd wake up and stop it, especially as it's Protestants doing all that stuff and they're the ones who tout the Bible as the be-all and end-all of the faith. How come they don't listen to what it says then?

Each generation predicts that the world will end in its lifetime. This has been occuring since before Christianity and Revelations, etc, etc.

The reason for this is rather interesting.

Each of us knows that he or she will die. All we know of the world exists as a result of the activity in our brains, and our brains will stop operating when we die. As a result, in a very profound way we see our own approaching death as the end of the world.

Any crank with an apocalyptic story will generate attention because the apocalypse resonates with the idea that "the world ends with me."

Brethern,

But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.

For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.

For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

This simply means that GOD himself only knows the time of his coming not even Jesus knows the time, or even the angels so, how can man know I think not. whomever tells you that they know the time of when these things shall come to pass are false. Only the the father in heaven knows.
