Each medication should say. One I used said to use it for at least 4 weeks and that the acne would actually get worse around week 2 and not to quit using.

Well, depends on what type of "acne product" you are referring to. If it is a spot treatment, the blemish should REDUCE after the first day, so it'll be less noticeable but not gone, it will be gone in 2-3 days, that is with just the spot treatment cream. (There are other "tricks" for spot treating blemishes quickly.
But as for a daily use products you should see an initial difference after one week, that would be a small and subtle change in your skin, if you are using it as directed.
After 3-4 weeks of use you should see a noticeable difference, meaning you'll see a dramatic change in texture and appearance. This would include what you see in the mirror and a significant decrease in the appearance of acne blemishes.
Depending on your skin type and age most over the counter products would help, if you can get a monthly (or bi-weekly, depending on the severity of your acne) facial with an acne treatment that would help too.
If you have what is classified as ACNE IV, when the acne is severe, with blemishes and pustules seeming to over lap each other, then see your dermatologist for better treatment.
other than that, cleansing, toning, and moisturizing twice daily (AM&PM) will take care of your concerns.
PS, If your skin is severely oily, use your acne facial wash, a toner and a light water based moisturizer, using an astringent labeled "for acne" might dry out your skin too much and make the problem worse.

Hi if you have oily skin you shouldnt was more than once a day as this can increase oil and lead to more spots, If you get the odd pimple you might not need to use an acne cream or product, as you might find these burn you skin. When you have acne you get spots all over your face, not just where you get them at the time of the month which is mostly chin and t zone. Ance is different. but if you do have really bad spots all over and there red and sore and come up twice the size then its maybe best for you to go to the doctors and get a prescription for it, your parents shouldnt mind this as they wont have to pay as you are still in full time education. As no matter what shop brand you will use it wont help clear your acne, unless it is prescribe by your doctor
If you have a few pimples then a tea tree or witch hazel face wash or blemish stick will do you, but its not good to wash your face very often when you have oily skin, just rinse with water is best.
I find this product called aqua marina to be good it quite expensive, its just under 5 pound, its from Lush, and there is no chemicals in it and it really does clear the skin, I use this because I have senitive oily spotty skin that no matter what shop bought product for spots I use they just burn my sensitive skin making it look worse. But this doesnt, They also have one for spots, called herbalism, but I havent used this one yet as Im too scared it will burn my skin lol.
If you do plan on getting anything from Lush dont BE WARE with angels on Bare skin, I got this as its suppose to be a miracle for spots but Im allerigc to lavander and thats whats in this product. I didnt know until a few things with lavender in bothered my skin. So its worth a try if you have got money yo waste but if not I would stay aways from things with lavender oil or lavender in just to be sure, but try them if the other dont work
See the link below for a few of the Lush products that are suppose to be good.

You should wait at least 2 weeks before it really starts working. Nuetrogena makes some good products... like the Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Stress Control 3-in-1 Hydrating Acne Treatment that you can get at drugstores.
More than twice a day can really dry out your skin, so i wouldn't recomend it.

I'd give any product two weeks unless you had a bad reaction. Also, don't try more than one new product at a time. If you change more than one product and you get a bad reaction you won't know which product caused the reaction.
I have oily skin and I use L'oreal. They have good products for combination skin too. I find I have the best results with foaming cleansers.

Have you ever heard of Clinque? They have a great skin care line. You have to do it in 3 steps, facial soap, toner, and moisterizer, but if you have oily skin, I don't think you will have to use moisterizer. You can find Clinque, at any Dillards, Riches (if you have one where you are from) I'm not sure where else you can find it, but it does work great, I use it all the time, I have a bad problem with breakouts, so it works great when I use it. You should use it once or twice a day, cause if you it too much the toner will dry your skin out. even if you have oily skin, it still needs a little moister. hope this helps

Right now my skin is perfectly clear, for the first time in 3 years. It's been about 9 weeks and all my acne is gone. It is such a great feeling to wake up with clear skin.

I would try it for at least a week or two. No more than two. You should know if it's working by then.
I really like the Biore line. I use their blackhead cleansing cream and their pore decreasing scrub. I love them. My skin has cleared alot since I've started using them.
Also, for oily skin, you should use an astringent. I just looked in my natural skin care book, and it suggests to use witch hazel. But avoid buying it with alcohol. Go to your local health food store and buy an organic one without alcohol there. It also suggests you mix lemon juice and water, according to the strength you prefer, and freezing it in an ice cube tray. As you feel the need to a refresher, remove an ice cube and run it lightly over your face. Remove both oil and moisture with cotton balls. This treatment will leave you with a cool, tingly feeling while it helps to alleviate your oily skin condition.
Try it...Good luck!

Use it for a few weeks, its going to break out bad, before it gets better, if you haven't used anything for a while.
What works for me, Get a wash cloth and run it under HOT HOT water hold that in front of your face to open you pores then use regular facial soap( this won't dry out your skin(I recommend Dove soap). It will clean you pores and keep the oil off of your face.
Do this 4 time a day
