if it wasn't in your initial contract coming in, I am pretty sure you cannot get it now.

Yes you can still get it as far as I know. I wish I would have got the kicker when I was in the Navy. I'm using the GI Bill right now and loving it! Best thing I've ever done was sign up for it. Give 1200 and get back 40000! Tell me that aint a good deal. Look at this web site www.gibill.va.gov...good luck

Well I am in the Air Force but the G.I. Bill kicker is the same for all branches, you pay an extra 600$ into it, and it equals about an extra 125$ per month (for 36 months)so its worth it, best way to sign up for it, is after you have completed basic training, and your technical training, visit your Finance office, they can help you set it up (you can set up payment to come out of your checks as long as it is an increments of $20 or more per month) The only thing is, you have your entire enlistment to set it up, but after you're out, its too late. I would say just worry about paying for the regular G.I. Bill first ($100 a month for a year) then immediatly get the kicker ( you didnt have the money before so why not use it for that?)

Talk to your Personnel office if you are on active duty, They can tell you when you can access you beni's and how to. Usually you may not use any GI Benefits until after you have left the service. If you want to take College Courses many are offered by universities and colleges on a weekend basis.
For a good web site to start to explore you benefits try www.military.com they are set up to help the service member and the vet on all things about your rights.
ret US Navy. Good Luck

Your going to need to go to your education office to obtain more. I think it is like 800 dollars or something (the kicker) and all it does is increase the amount you get every month, not the over all amount. You have to pay this BEFORE you leave active duty btw. Check out the VA website www.va.gov and to benefits and then to the education link.

Don't know you need to check with the education department on your base if you all have one (I was in the Army) If not you might be able to obtain info on www.gibill.va.gov.
