Go to zedicker.com and download the barrel break-in procedure. It is important. Mine was as follows.
1. fire 1 round then thoroughly clean barrel repeat for 20 rounds.
2. fire 2 round then thoroughly clean barrel until 20 round are fired.
3 3 round groups then clean X 6
4. 5 round groups then clean X 4
5. 10 rounds then clean X2

Is all this necessary? Maybe not but I'm trying to get the most out of my barrel and its worked for me.

the break in procedure varries, but usually, it's:
1. clean and lightly oil the barrel
2. fire 10 rounds
3. repeat step 1.
4. repeat step 2.

after that your barrel should be ok.

as far as its importance, that all depends on who you ask. some people say it's needed, others dont. i myslef do it more in my high powered rifles than i do my shotguns as it tends to increase my long range accuracy. force of habbit left over from the army.

Very important.

With modern breech loading smokeless ammo barrel break-in is unnecessary. Simply a throw-back to muzzle-loader, black powder days.

Best.
