Yeah that Jr guy is right up their with Michelle Wie as the most overrated athlete in the history of mankind. You don't have to watch NASCAR to know that.

First of all those "earnings" that you stated are not only just him. That is how much he has earned from the posistions that he finished in races. You win more when you are consistant. Engines blowing up and things like that set you back, but when you finish in the top 10 (we'll say 6 out of 10 races) that's pretty damn good and you make a pretty good chunk of change. Now back to the earnings....that is the money he has won from races which immediately goes to Teresa Earnhardt (his car owner) who then pays him a percentage, and uses what's left over (well is SUPPOSED to) to pay employees and herself.

None of these guys is actually on a salary, per se.

The earnings shown on nascar.com reflect what the drivers won for their finishing order, plus any contingency awards (there's a payout for every decal on the front fenders...). As each race has a different size purse, & each driver is in different awards programs, it's easy for someone that low in the standings to have out-earned someone higher up.
Harvick is a good example. His win at Daytona paid him over $1.5 million. Nice start to the season, eh?

Back in the day when it was easy to get in the field, it wasn't unheard of for a car to start the race, then simply drop out after a few laps & take home the easy paycheck for last place.

Have you gone to a race? To the pits? Talked to the drivers? Do you know how hard it is to do what they do?

I hate tony stewart, but he is one of the best drivers in the world. I hate jr. though he will be on the hendrick team next year and he'll finnally have an engine that will last, you will see how good he is.

It takes alot more than you know to drive those tin cans around the track.

Would you make all you could If you could? What is published is what his team made for the races, not what he personally pocketed. He gets a percentage of it and a percentage of souvenirs.

They get paid so much cause very few people can do what they do no matter how easy you may think it is. Juan Pablo is 21st and he was supposed to be one of the best in the world.

Go for if you think you can.

Cuz Junior is FINE!!!! Have you taken a look at other drivers that haven't won? This is nothing new. Research it. I dare ya! While your at it, look at past yrs, this is nothing new period. Maybe you should take up racing, yeah right. Why post a question being a smartass, it only makes you look like one.
