Most people are sheep who need a Shepard to fleece them. In this new age that is dawning they will learn to think for themselves and go to their inner god/goddess for council.

Actually, Granny Annie is wrong. If you read the Genesis account you'll see that satan did not lie about Adam and Eve being as God. Compare Genesis 3:5 with 3:7. His lie was to say that "Ye shall not surely die." In fact, their eyes WERE opened.
And several other answerers were wrong when they said that the Bible does not say "You are Gods". Here is the reference: Psalm 82:6. And for good measure, Jesus quoted it in John 10:34.
What Jesus is saying is that we are all children of God, and as such we have the potential to grow to become like him. But in order to grow we do need guidance, and we get that through prophets, apostles, and through meeting together regularly at church.
Of course you can go to your prayer closet or wherever (I'm British so we don't have closets, we have wardrobes, and I don't fit in them) and get the guidance of the Holy Spirit, but we gain most strength through regular scripture reading, prayer, and meeting and serving with others.
And if I were to be a prophet in the dessert, I think it would have to be steamed treacle pudding.

A) Nowhere does Scripture say that we are gods or that we will become gods.
B) What it DOES say is that the serpent promised that eating the forbidden fruit would give us the knowledge of good and evil and that would make us AS gods, knowing right from wrong.
C) And God wasn't too thrilled about the serpent's lie, nor was he particularly pleased that His shiny new creation apparently chose to abandon good sense and disobey Him after just receiving a no nonsense declaration that disobedience would bring a heavy penalty.
D) And of course you can commune with God in private. In fact Jesus more than once tells you to do just that. BUT, you are also advised by Him to communicate with God in concert with others in a communal setting.

OK! so you have realized the truth for your self, this is a good thing but "You are banging your head against a wall trying to get others to see it" the Bible says "where 2 or more" tis does not mean "if you are a lone you are left alone by god" it meant god would be there to give the 2 people the wisdom of the truth not to let them fight over who is right or wrong.

"Know this first of all, that there is no prophecy of scripture that is a matter of personal interpretation". (Cf. 2 Peter 1:20)
"So Philip ran to him, and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet, and asked, "Do you understand what you are reading? And he said, "How can I, unless some one guides me?" And he invited Philip to come up and sit with him." (Acts 8:30-31)
"For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need some one to teach you again the first principles of God's word. You need milk, not solid food" (Hebrews 5:12)
"For, in the first place, when you assemble as a church, I hear that there are divisions among you; and I partly believe it, for there must be factions among you in order that those who are genuine among you may be recognized." (1Corinthians 11:18-19)
"In those days there was no king in Israel; every man did what was right in his own eyes." (Judges 21:25).
"And they came and said to him, "Teacher, we know that you are true, and care for no man; for you do not regard the position of men, but truly teach the way of God." (Cf. Mat 22:16)

Psalms 82:6
I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.
John 10:34-36
33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.
34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?
35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;
36 Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?
I believe Jesus is saying that we are the children of God. And He is our heavenly father. Which in a way makes us little gods but only by relationship with Him. We can aquire power but only through the power, grace and wisdom of Jesus. That is how Peter was able to walk on the water but it didn't take long before He began to sink. And even that little bit of a miracle was only allowed by Jesus.
The apostles also cast out demons, healed the sick and performed other miracles through the power of Christ which was ordained to them. But it was only by the power that Jesus allowed. There was one young man that the apostles could not help. And that was because they were not prepared for it. They couldn't cast out a demon because of the power that it had. Jesus said that this sort of demon could only cast out through fasting and prayer. Only He could cast out the demon.
There may be a few places in the bible where it looks like we are called gods. But it is only a lable given through a true relationship with the All Mighty. It allows the truly devout to be used as vessles by God to perform miracles.
The bible also says forsake not the gathering of believers. If you want to be a used vessle, you need to be a obidient vessle. Even Jesus went to the temple.
Quote:
The Bible was full of old prophets that were by themselves in the dessert and God spoke to them there
Dont forget that they were there because that is where God wanted them. Also dont forget that many of the old testament prophets were in the wilderness because the very people that they would prophesy to didnt like what they were saying and always tried to kill them.
Matthew 23:37
O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!

I believe in what Christ taught, that we are equal to Him. When he was asked to teach us to pray he started with OUR Father, not his father. Christ said we could do what he did if we only had faith the size of a mustard seed, which is pretty tiny. I belong to no religion, go to no church, and I have a deep and thriving relationship with God.
Peace

I do not know which bible you are reffering too. but there is no way a human being can be a god. god is a spirit, neither having flesh nor bone. he came down as a man in the form of melchesidk prince of salem whom abraham paid his tithes too. he came down in the furnace with the three hebrew boys.
you ca not see a spirit with the natural eye,yet god will show you things in the spirit,as he wills.
there is no god but god period.

Why only accept the quotes that you want to use for your purposes. Why not include that the Bible says we should not forsake the gathering of the saints? Do you feel guilty or something for not going to church?
