Think about this as you attend church today. There is so much "stuff" that the Christian religion stuffed into the practices and rituals and dogma and expectations of Christians that the life you live is far and away un-Christlike.

ANNA: I appreciate your opinion. I base my observations of 30 years in Christianity where I had ample opportunity to witness both the stuff that goes on in the religion and the un-Christlike people who participate. Now come on, who is being arrogant...who do YOU know that IS Christ-like? Yourself? Anyone?

Dan H. I think that spirituality is an inborn light. Your conscience is part of your spirituality. Religion is someone else's idea of how your spiritualilty should be. Religion should always be taken with a grain of salt and no one should follow a religion blindly. Quite frankly, I blame religion for taking Christ out of Christianity.

I understand what you mean. It seems as though Christianity is filled with so much personal conviction of a select few than what Jesus really wanted. There's no fatted calf waiting for you anymore, you know?Theirs no joy its all mankind trying to add drama to what used to be kept close to ones heart to take away pain.
Its kind of sad.
BUUUUUT when you look on the bright side,if you walk into a old, sweet, small church at times they are exactly what you were missing. Its what I did last week and it was awesome. XD

Sigh, once again, you are generalizing. yes, there are Christians who are like that, but not all of us are. It's sad, because Christianity is all about God. Now, this includes trying to please Him and imitate Him as best we can, so there are some things that come along with that. But when you get a person who gets so wrapped up in ritual and severity, it's really sad. The best thing to do is pray for them, and for yourself, that you can follow Christ the way He wants you to.

Some people have taken Jesus out of the church. But you have no right, let alone sufficient information, to make such a sweeping statement as that "the life you live is far and away unChristlike."

Who gave you your omnisciency licence, mate? What makes you know all about "the life I (or anyone else) live", when you don't know me and never will meet me? Your premise is flawed and your information faulty. And your arrogance is amazing.

Good question. The teachings of Jesus is wdiely ignored. Today Christianity is mostly based on the opinion and interpretation of some few.
Jesus taught a psychological practise which was symbolic, which is now almost gone.

That is why I left the church. We need to get back to the origin of our faith, That is Jesus. Most are in it for the money a church can generate. It is big business. I am trying to spread His word not man's words. God bless

The problem is, 'christlike' is not defined. The same character who is depicted as the prince of peace, also stated "think not that I came to bring peace, but a sword".

Jesus implied at times he was god, and at other times admonished his followers for even calling him 'good' since he was not god.

It's a jumble of contradictions.

You have illustrated the difference between spirituality and religion. Spirituality is personal and religion is made by others for your spirituality.
