For the past 6 months (ever since I got engaged) I have been contemplating the great mystery of a color scheme for my wedding! I finally decided that I can't limit myself to one color, so I either need to go with a few different colors or a few different shades. I was thinking of either sunset colors (since my favorite color is hot pink) and blending it with oranges and yellows in order to play down the pink, or ocean colors and using shades of blues and greens. As you can guess, my wedding is in late August. It should also be noted that my wedding dress is a very simple and ivory Carolina Herrera, so I want a color that will also compliment my dress (if that's possible). The number one thing I want is for my wedding to be elegant and classic. Which color scheme, if any, seems to be the more elegant and classic choice?

It depends on what kind of atmosphere you want - the hot pink scheme will give off a bright, funky, energetic vibe. The blue/green scheme will give a calm, classic feel. What would fit best with you and fiance's personalities?

Either one would work for late August. Have you picked out a venue yet? Is there anything there that would help drive the decision? In the end, both are beautiful color schemes. Go with ever one you feel that's more you and your fiance.

As soon as I read hot pink, orange, and yellow I did not think "sunset". I thought outdoor summer wedding. So Im not sure if those colors would really execute your idea well. I do however love the idea of blues and greens because you can play with the tones of those colors more to match the mood you are going for. Keep your location in mind, too. Where is the ceremony and reception?

The blues and greens will be more flattering to the girls in your wedding party, most likely. Not many people can pull off hot pink or orange. Also, it will be easier to coordinate everything if you're in those color families.

Saying that the wedding has a sunset theme wouldn't be right, IMO- sunsets are endings, your wedding will be a beginning.

Since your wedding is in late August, consider a fall harvest color display - rich, vibrant color to accentuate your beautiful yet simple dress. Autumn colors are both classic and traditional, yet very elegant.

I think with a simple ivory gown I would go with the ocean colors. I think the deeper colors will really work with your dress color. You could also do a little more elegant accessory with the ocean colors than with bright colors.

Congrats and good luck!

The colour scheme for wedding must correspond with your personal likes and dislikes. If you are interested i n shocking pink colour than go with the colour and try to overcome all other alternatives which comes in your mind. Good Luck.

Ocean - Full of life with depth and it is endless but sunset - means end of a day- it stops all activities- starting of darkness. Now choice is yours.

Ocean at sunset!

Blue would be nice to match the ocean.

A rustic looking brown would be nice for a sunset.
