First of all, there is nothing Biblical about the "7 Deadly Sins". This is a Catholic thing. There is the idea that certain sins tend to stop the process of spiritual growth in the Christian, and this is one of them.
In this, perhaps, they are correct.

Gluttony is, of course, excessive over-eating, or being totally obsessed with food...but it is so much more than that. Any obsession with material things can be considered "gluttony". It is consistently taking more than you need, which, in turn, causes others to go without.
Why do you suppose there are starving children? Isn't it because there are also people who throw away more food in a day's time than these kids even see in a week? Have you ever seen the vast amounts of food that get tossed out every DAY at places like McDonald's?
What do you think would happen, if everyone had to share the world's food supply without preference as to who had the money? (In other words, the food is divided equally among all the people in the world.)
Would that mean that you would not get enough to eat?
If your answer is "yes, I'm afraid that is what would happen," then YOU, my friend, are a glutton.
(You do not trust in God's provision for you.)

EDIT:
What, exactly, is an "Evangelical Christian"? Aren't ALL Christians "evangelical"?

Define Gluttony

Gluttony is much more than just overeating. C.S. Lewis discusses this sin in detail in the 17th chapter of his book, "The Screwtape Letters." Quote from book notes (link below):

"In this chapter Lewis focuses on the vice of gluttony, with an interesting twist. Screwtape notes that we tend to think of gluttony in terms of how much one consumes; the stereotypical image of the glutton is of a grotesquely fat person eating at a great banquet (with the poor perhaps staring on in the background). Gluttony, says Lewis, consists not in how much we eat but in the fact that we are driven and commanded by our desires. The one who insists on having his or her every desire satisfied is a glutton, even if the volume consumed is small. It makes little difference to what the appetite is directed (food, drink, tobacco, music, or collecting Barbie dolls); the essential point is that one places satisfaction of that appetite above all else. Some spiritual writers even warn of “spiritual gluttony” which is the compulsive need for emotional highs in times of prayer. The glutton is above all one who places his or her interests at the center of life. In contrast, the one who has the mind of Christ constantly seeks to place the intention of God at the center. Some writers have suggested that gluttony is rooted in a lack of faith, a fear that there is not enough for all; one must jealously guard one’s interests, since no one else will."

Blessings,

Jack

The seven deadly sins are not biblical. They are part of the writings of St. Thomas Aquinas.

How can deadly sins be limited to only seven? Think about it.

All of the seven refer to spiritual not physical acts.

Gluttony would be spiritual gluttony and the opposite virtue to overcome it would be temperance.
Spiritual gluttony would be attending church too often and giving all your money to the church thereby neglecting the needs of yourself, your spouse, your children, your community, your work.

The seven deadly sins are not a part of fundamental Christianty and are very misunderstood.

This is a toughie... Gluttony is eating more than you need, and I think that it has more of an sin to it if there are people around you who are hungry. So while overeating is not good for many reasons...having more than you need and not helping those that are hungry around you is far worse. Make sure that you are donating to your local food pantry (as everyone should...it is our responcibility to share what we have with those who have not) and I don't think God minds if we have a piece of cake once in awhile. Hope that helps!

Overindulging in food to the point of harm.
Focusing too much on food.

Obese people may or may not be gluttons - some may overeat and be gluttons but there are also people who eat moderately and are obese - we should not judge unless we know.

Gluttony is defined as "excessive appetite" and is sternly forbidden:

"When thou sittest to eat with a ruler, consider diligently what is before thee: And put a knife to thy throat, if thou be a man given to appetite. Be not desirous of his dainties: for they are deceitful meat. " - Proverbs 23:1-3.

It is a characteristic of the wicked:

"Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)" - Philippians 3:19.

It can lead to poverty:

"For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty: and drowsiness shall clothe a man with rags." - Proverbs 23:21.

Jesus was falsely accused of being a glutton:

"The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children." - Matthew 11:19.

Gluttony is consuming vast amounts of food and/or other resources while others around you suffer from lack of what you consume.
