I am not a Warmist. The climate always fluctuates. Sooner or later a cataclysmic event will change the climate, just like has happened so many times in the Earth's history. We have already burned half of our oil. When we finish burning the other half, that's it! No more oil! Then we will appreciate a warmer planet-but don't hold your breath. Next year the Junk Scientists will be predicting the next Ice Age!
All in all, "Global Warming" is just a money grab-i/e carbon tax, etc., and an excuse to build more dams and nukes.

I believe that it is true from reading information from the Union of Concerned Scientists. perhaps there is a natural reason for some of the global warming but we have added to the natural aspect and made it worse. Waves may naturally come to shore, for example, but if we roar past the shore in a speedboat, the waves that come to shore are partly natural and partly the waves we make but the combination of the two will destroy a sand castle someone has made there.
Perhaps there was thought of global Cooling 20 years ago but as science evolved with new and better ways of looking at things, the findings change. 20 years ago eye witnesses to a crime were felt to be sufficient to convict a person, for example, but now we find with DNA evidence that eye witness testimony can be wrong for one reason or another. Over 100 people have been released from prison who were convicted on the basis of eye witness testimony when DNA showed that they were in fact not guilty of what they had been convicted for.
20 years ago, we thought we were building the safest cars that we could but as investigation continued we came up with side air bags and other things that forced us to change our opinions about the safety of cars. these are but two example which come to mind and our present thoughts on Global Warming are due to the change in being able to analyze what our planet is doing or how we are doing things to our planet.

It's more than 20 years ago that the idea of the comming ice age went out of fashion in apparent conflct with the new theories of the green house effect and ozone depletion.
I remember as a kid, a lot of people were very concerned about the environment, but people had different ideas then. People were very concerned about loss of forests, suggesting that in the near future, you would only see trees in the museum, rising CO2 emissions and constant land clearing was going to cause the CO2 level of the atmosphere to become toxic, chemical and particle pollution & oil spills were going to destroy the natural environment.
The Amazon forest was refered to as the Lungs of the Earth as if without them the eath would have no oxygen. I recall some literature describing how if a man loses a third of his skin he will die and the same will happen to the eath if it loses a third of its trees.
Change is the only constant in our society. In 20 years time I think it's very unlikley we will still be talking about climate change. We'll probably do something about it and then stop worrying about it - and we will move on to something else.

Because it's what the scientific data clearly says.
"I wasn’t convinced by a person or any interest group—it was the data that got me. I was utterly convinced of this connection between the burning of fossil fuels and climate change. And I was convinced that if we didn’t do something about this, we would be in deep trouble.”
Vice Admiral Richard H. Truly, USN (Ret.)
Former NASA Administrator, Shuttle Astronaut and the first Commander of the Naval Space Command
Here are two summaries of the mountain of peer reviewed data that convinced Admiral Truly and the vast majority of the scientific community, short and long.

The "global cooling" deal was just a few guys with an idea, not much data, and no backing from any major scientific organization.
That's completely different from today's scientists with mountains of data, and backing from EVERY major scientific organization.

Actually what the global cooling guys most resemble is the "skeptics" of today. The science is similarly speculative.

Thee is no "believe" or "disbelieve" in global warming--it is a fact. There is only knowledge versus ignorance.
And speaking of ignorance:
>the short-term dip 20 years ago was due to dust in the air from a volcanic eruption. when the dust settled, the short term drop in temperature vanished. But the "skeptics" are too ignorant to know this.
>Speaking of which--these same skeptics further demonstrate their lack of knowledge by continually trying to argue that global warming may be caused by CO2 from volcanoes--they are too stupid to know that volcanic eruptions tend to COLL the Earth by blocking the sun's rays.

It is happening. The dinosaurs and the rich biodiversity that existed in the pre-historic era about 64 million years ago was destroyed by a monsterous meteorite that rammed the earth. This brought about revolutionary climatic changes. Any kind of climatic change results in noticeable destruction of one kind or the other. Take for example even burning bulbs contribute CO2 that goes into atmosphere and increases the risk of global warming that results in faster melting of glaciers, rising of sea level, hurricanes gaining heights, gale forces increasing and gobbling up of earth on the sea shores and extinction of different species on earth.
It is reported by the UN Convention on Bilogical Diversity that due to climatic change every hour three species are disappearing, every day 150 species are lost and every year 18,000 to 55,000 species are vanishing. It is reported that European honey bee colonies have collapsed in the US countryside resulting in adversely affecting the production of food articles like fruits, vegetables and seed crops because honey bees were the most responsible agents for high level pollination and now they are not there anymore. In the next 50 years, 70% of polar bears will not be there due to hot air emissions and warming of climate. In Indonesia, the Orangutan species are finding it difficult survive and their number is just 7500 today. Whales, Dolphins and plants like wild variety of peanuts, potatoes, vegetables etc., are facing difficulties for their survival due to drastic climatic changes.
Nature has the ability to take care of itself periodically, example, bush fires of Australia, forest fires in Andes etc., to balance itself with its requirement of CO2. But man's callous behaviour to environment and fellow creaters has created havoc in climatic changes.
It is necessary for all of us to protect and preserve natural resources at grassroots level and to keep some of them for our future generation. Otherwise, we will be dubbed as irresponsible elders who were not bothered to effect an online correction to the climatic change that was taking place for which we alone are responsible.
Have a look at my following world bank honored Project U-SEE, practice and try to spread the good word in your neighborhood and community.
U-SEE - We must save the world from over-exploitation of natural resources
Knowingly or unknowingly we are all partners in misusing of costly electricity for our lighting purpose during day time when the solar light is available just outside our windows. Why can't bring home the sunshine?
Yes. This has been successfully adopted by a number of people in Bangalore, India. This innovative but simple method of bringing home the sunshine was suggested to the World Bank as a Grassroots Initiative for Preservation of Natural Resourcs during IDM-2007 competition - Project U-SEE (Unlimited Savings of Electrical Energy). U-SEE does not involve any nano technology nor does it requires billions of dollars for implementation. Moreover, U-SEE you get free lighting for life. No charges.
The World Bank honored this initiative and has created a permanent blog on the World Bank URL at http://dmblog.worldbank.org/mirrors-can-bring-light-rural-homes.
How is it implemented? U need a house hold mirror of 12"X18" and a pillow. Identify where u can get maximum sunshine just outside the windows with clear glass or on the balcony, keep the pillow on a stool or chair and place the mirror on the pillow, go on nudging the mirror till the solar light is deflected from the mirror, through the window and on to the white ceiling inside your home. U will be surprised to find the light spreading from the ceiling - it can be 40 to 60 watts (see the picture above - notice tube light and table lamp in the corner are not burning but there is enough light). If u can keep a bigger mirror, u will get more bright light. U can control the light just by covering a portion of the mirror.
Earth moves on its latitude. When u find that the deflected solar light is moving elsewhere, just go to the mirror, nudge a little and u can get back your light as before. THIS IS THE BASIC IDEA and once u have done it, u be the Innovator of your light requirements for your home and U-SEE PROVIDES YOU FREE LIGHTING FOR LIFE. Many homes/huts in rural areas in developing countries do not have proper lighting and people are living in dark, damp and dingy environs but urbanites living in concrete jungles in cities with tinted glasses are misusing electricity for their lighting purpose even during day time.
U-SEE the Benefits: ONE incandescent bulb/tubelight burning for 6 hours during day time consumes 7 units of electricity in a month. If half the world can adopt U-SEE and switch off one bulb for 6 hours during day time, how much of electricity can be saved? Your guess is as good as mine + saves cost of fossil fuels, coal, water+saves cost incurred for machineries and equipments+saves overhead charges+saves transmission loss charges+saves the world from global warming (burning bulbs/CO2 etc) with n'th value+ U GET FREE LIGHTING FOR LIFE with n'th value. The savings that accrue can off set the load on our productive requirements like A/c, refrigerators, mixies, fans etc.
Solar light will be available at least for about 200 days in a year and it is infinite and why should we let it go waste? We are not harnessing this infinite energy. U-SEE is ssoo simple.
First adopt this method, innovate solutions if u face small problems. U be the winner. U-SEE It is a win win situation for all of us. Need clarifications, mail: vkumar_m@yahoo.com U-SEE - The author's ambition is to spread this friendly initiative to one and all. No charges!!
