unfotuneatly, this has a great deal of truth to it. children become conditioned to believe that they are limited in their abilities. this teacher needs to be reported, preferably by the parents of his/her students. children will only strive for what they believe is their potential. in some cases; this isn't very much.

everyone is smart somewhere. it is the teacher's obligation to bring out the best in his/her students. it is his/her obligation to find a way to excite and encourage all students.

this is very disturbing to me. please ask for help to alleviate this. it is a crime that someone of authority has caused you to feel this poorly. don't buy into it. you are intelligent. think about what you love and pursue it. you deserve to feel good about yourself, starting right now. please try.

Not necessarily.

It might make the other kids hate that one kid.

Some kids are just going to stop caring about their school work altogether.

Some kids are going to try harder.

I have had depression for all of my life, and I often felt like that in school. I was called dumb, retarded, and so on. I don't think that caused my depression although it probably made it worse.
