My guy friend the other night said " I know i don't show it often but ( pause) your really awesome?" He seemed like it took him alot to say it. Is he trying to tell me he likes me more than a friend?

I think it's a safe bet that he does like you more. Reward his courage by being a bit courageous yourself. Let me him know if you feel the same way. If you don't, you need to decide whether to play ignorant or to kindly, gently let him know that you adore him but you'd like to remain being friends.
