John 14:16-23
16And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another(A) Helper,[a] to be with you forever, 17even(B) the Spirit of truth,(C) whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and(D) will be in you.
18"I will not leave you as orphans;(E) I will come to you. 19(F) Yet a little while and the world will see me no more, but(G) you will see me.(H) Because I live, you also will live. 20(I) In that day you will know that(J) I am in my Father, and(K) you in me, and(L) I in you. 21(M) Whoever has my commandments and(N) keeps them, he it is who loves me. And(O) he who loves me(P) will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and(Q) manifest myself to him." 22(R) Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, "Lord, how is it(S) that you will manifest yourself to us, and not to the world?" 23Jesus answered him, (T) "If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and(U) we will come to him and(V) make our home with him.
The "helper" is the Holy Spirit! Whom God has promised to give to all who receive Him. The Holy Spirit not only convicts us when we are in sin, but also leads us into ALL truth! As we study the word of God. God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are three in one person. It is the LORD who dwells in us! I am so thankful that the Lord has given us the Holy Spirit- to keep us from falling- to continually help us understand His word as we seek and lean on HIS understanding and not our own. Praise God for His wonderful salvation and "seal" with His promised Holy Spirit! (See Ephesians 1 as well, and 2 Corinthians 1)
Also, the Holy Spirit ONLY Lives in those who are SAVED in Jesus Christ. Anyone can "say" they are christian, but it is the one who is born again in Him that is sealed with the Holy Spirit. It is the one whom God has manifested Himself to, who has drawn to Himself and saved, who receives the blessed Holy Spirit. If someone says they were once saved and not saved now-- they were never saved to begin with- but it was a false conversion ( the parable of the sower is a good passage regarding this)

Counselor, Holy Spirit of God. ( All the three members of the Trinity are mentioned in John 14:13-16. Jesus prayed to the Father, who would give the Holy Spirit to empower them. )
Holy Spirit is called 'the Spirit of Truth' ( John 15:26, 16:13, 1 John 4:6 ) because He is Truth and guides us into all truth ( 1 Cor. 2:13, 2 Pet. 1:21 )
(Edit: Anyone who says that the Holy Spirit is not "who" is buying Watchtower organization's false teachings that the Holy Spirit is not a person, it is an active force of God.)
'Neither sees' Him or knows Him: The Spirit of God is active in the world, but His acts go unnoticed by the world ( 1 Cor 2:14 )

Michelle Chang gives the cult definition of the Holy Spirit, thus minimalizing God.
Can a power speak? No, but the Holy Spirit does, as recorded in Scripture.

Spirit of Truth - 1 John 2:24 - "Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father."

It is not a who, it is a power.
John 14:; 16 and I will request the Father and he will give YOU another helper to be with YOU forever, 17 the spirit of the truth, which the world cannot receive, because it neither beholds it nor knows it. YOU know it, because it remains with YOU and is in YOU. 18 I shall not leave YOU bereaved. I am coming to YOU. 19 A little longer and the world will behold me no more, but YOU will behold me, because I live and YOU will live

Wait a minte... let me think... God the Holy Ghost a.k.a. "The Comforter" was nowhere to be found when God the Son Jesus Christ was sweating blood terrified at the idea of dying on the cross and the only thing that came to him with a box of napkins was one of God's created beings, an angel who had pity on his Creator... So the track record of both of them in the God Head is very poor... Of course God the Father is dead set about shedding blood for any forgiveness of "coming short of the mark"* (*sin)

It is the Holy Spirit...the final stage in the Tri-Unity of GD....
From the moment He created the universe, whether that Creation came from putting two things that would collide with each other in the same path as some say happened with the Big Bang, or in some other form, GD has been OUTSIDE of us. When Noah, Abraham, Moses, others heard him, what they heard was the voice on something Outside of them coming to them-in the manner of the rainbow, of the words they heard in their heart, of some other sign.
The sacrifices, gifts and prayers offered by high priests were given in the flesh and in the world because these blood sacrifices were to be made to a Supreme Being that was OUTSIDE of man....
But, those entrusted to teach the words of the Law, and to pass along the words of the Prophets had been too consumed with their own needs, so Jesus came, to walk BESIDE man, to bring the word from being with G-D, to being from the mouth of GD as He dwelled BESIDE us. He was able to clarify, not change, but explain and teach to us the meaning of the words, as had been prophesied for hundreds of years by the likes of Ezekiel, Isaiah, Jeremaiah, Daniel, and others. As He stood, walked, healed, saved those who were BESIDE Him, Jesus helped mankind move from the world of the flesh to the world of the Spirit. He had to come to us in both forms--as Man, the servant David who would lead the lost sheep back to the pasture and bring all who would believe with Him, to the Resurrected Soul of that man that would rise again to Heaven...This was the second form, the second stage...There would be no longer a need for a High Priest to explain the word, as much as those who had been trained to follow the ways of He who lived BESIDE US, WHO MADE THE GREATEST BLOOD SACRIFICE, THE LAST SACRIFICE OF BLOOD NEEDED. It is why Jesus said He had to die, to be pierced by His feet and hands, and to die before the Second Temple fell. The sacrificial system of accepting the Covenant is what changed, not the Laws themselves, but how the Laws would be carried out...this is what the New Testament/New Covenant was all about. The change was from Laws that covered a people and that required men to offer sacirifices and gifts on behalf of others to obtain atonement for them to a Law that covered each individual person, from the lowest to the greatest, who, by the sheer strength of faith, was already granted atonement for sins by He who endured the Greatest Sacrifice of them all, on behalf of those who He and only He had created.
The third stage of GD was having Him dwell INSIDE us, those who believe, in the form of the Holy Spirit....the spirit that dwells INSIDE each of us that makes us Holy because we have the faith and we believe in GD as He was OUTSIDE of us, we believe in Jesus who walked BESIDE US...AND NOW dwells INSIDE us.
I am sure I will get negative vbotes, I usually do, but I also realize that so many of those who give the negative votes have never read Isaiah 53, have never read Ezekiel 34-36, have never read Jeremaiah 31:31-34. I will take mankind's negative votes, and forgive them for it, because they have not read the Words.
The way the Word of GD has come into us is the way any piece of knowledge comes to be a part of us...wherther it is 1+1=2, how to perform our job, or the concepts of love, forgiveness, anything...
SOMETHING FROM OUTSIDE OF US HAS THAT KNOWLEDGE-another person, a stimulus for an experience, a computer or book, etc.
THAT SOMETHING IS BROUGHT BESIDE US...we hear the teacher, parent, etc.; we read the compute,r book, newspaper; we smell the air; touch the animal; experience the situation...and it teaches us something as Jesus taught us.
THEN WE BRING IT INTO US...we learn from it, we develop an awareness of it, it becomes part of our moral code, or our conscience, or our self-concept or concepts about others...
The Holy Spirit is our way of letting GD INSIDE OUR CONSCIOUSNESS--of course, He has always been inside our body, we don't put our anatomies together, He does...We don't put wellnesses or illnesses inside of us, He does...So the one who comes to those who believe in Jesus is JESUS, GD, HaShem, Eloheynu, Elohim, the Father, the Son, whatever way we think it to be...He who was Outside of us, walked Beside us, now dwells Inside us...AND IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN ONE AND THE SAME BUT DIFFERENT IN FORM, AND IN STAGE OF EXISTENCE, In the Holy Spirit, however, He has joined with us, as we are now living in His Image-circumcised by the heart, living in accord with the spirit, moving from the world governed by flesh to the world governed by our spirit so we are above the law that governs the world because we are of the world, but hold, as the commercial would say, to a Higher Authority.
