The theme of this year's peace summit is "A World Without Violence: Faiths and Cultures in Dialogue,"

Pope Benedict's comments:

In the face of a world torn by conflicts where violence is sometimes justified in the name of God, it is important to reiterate that religions can never become vehicles of hate," said the 80-year-old pontiff.

To the contrary, religions can and should offer precious resources to build a peaceful humanity ... especially where tensions are strongest, freedom and respect for others is denied and men and women suffer the consequences of intolerance and incomprehension.

....violence tends unfortunately to become a widespread mentality, insinuating itself into the fabric of society.

The pope underscored "the importance of intensifying efforts for a serious strategy of prevention centring on schools, work and helping young people to manage their free time.

Intervention is needed that involves everyone in the struggle against all forms of violence.

If not them than who could possibly help to accomplish this?

I attended the World Youth Day with Pop JP and people came from around the world. It was the most spectacular thing I have ever attended. No violence, and it isn't hard to see why so many loved that pope. He really was a living saint. Sometimes you have to see with your own eyes before you can make judgment on something. Where there is a will there is a way.

Christ said there would be wars and rumors of wars. According to His scenario, it's not going to get any better as time goes on. In fact, it's only going to get worse. The reason for this is simple- human nature, which by definition is violence personnified. All these so-called "peace- movements" are nothing more than agents of spreading the very violence and hatred they purport to represent a "unified" front against. Why? Again, human nature. When you show people their shortcomings in some area of their lives, you're not shaming and humiliating them; instead, you're only strirring in them a reckless disregard for peace and harmony, and a desire to vent their hatreds even more. At best, it only brings to the surface all the poison and hatred that's already there. People might think they've effectively stopped the hatred and violence at its source by engaging in these peace movements, but all they've effectively done is insured that it will leak out into society at some other opening. Sad but true. Peace in our modern world is an illusion.

There are so many world peace events all the time. None of them happens. I participated in the buddhist contribution to world peace, but as enthusiastic people and monks where at the meeting, as withdrawn they became afterwards. It seems to be something you attend to just for the show. world peace never happen. People simply doesn't regard it as important enough to work for.

I came to the conclusion that world peace is really not needed and that a world peace could be more harmful than good.
There are those whom beliefe in forces world peace, but really - that is a contradiction of immense proportion that will definately never work.

The Pope would now add latin to the masses,
supposedly to clear up the mass confusion, eh.
Returning to the middle ages is intellectual suicide.

E-life of e-salvation is "through" Jesus-->Christ-->God.
Reconciliation "unto God" (is not unto Jesus nor Christ)
firstly involves reconciliation among the people.
First be reconciled with thy brethren, then God.
For "there is no respect of persons with God",
only respect of persons partiality against God.

But how do we reconcile such Law<--vs-->Law?
We flush all Law, in favor of "grace is sufficient".
For Law <--vs--> Law is as Loser <--vs--> Loser.

The GRACE of our Lord Jesus-->Christ with you-->all. Amen.

No one has stopped war so far. Not even Jesus himself.

I do believe we should all try and elect world leaders that want peace but NOT at any cost. I don't think we will have world peace until Jesus comes again...."There will be wars and rumors of wars"
Men (humans) are evil.
