At first glance, any specks or spots look like a tiny bug untill i do a double take and confirm that it is only a piece of pencil lead or a hole in the wall from a pushpin. One night i was up really late and i saw a grasshopper in my basement and i freaked out. I went to go to sleep but in my bed there was a tick and i flipped out i was crying hysterically and i couldnt go to sleep i was checking my entire body for bugs and was convinced i had fleas [i didnt]. ever since then, i keep seeing bugs when they arent really there. I know that its not a bug, its just dirt or a chip in the tile or something, but i have to reassure that it isnt a bug. Am i schizophrenic or something? Sometimes i hear the phone ring when its not actually ringing and sometimes i smell things things that aren't present. Idk whats goin on

Tell your doctor. Some people with depression or bipolar have hallucinations. It could also be a side effect of some of the medication you're taking--that would be rare, though.
If it's just a short term thing; maybe you're just reacting to the unpleasant coincidence of the finding the grasshopper and the tick. If you still feel like that after a week or so, you really should talk to your doctor about it.
I have chronic depression. I used to have a cat that got run over by a car and it really bothered me a lot. Years later I was having a really bad day and late at night I found a dead cat that looked just like my old cat in the street in front of my house. I really freaked out. It was gone in the morning and I'm not sure if I really saw it or not. It never happened again so I'm not worried about it.

I don't want to alarm you, but you should see a therapist. There are many cases of people harming themselves because they think they see bugs crawling on or in their skin, and there are medications that can help you in addition to talk therapy.
Seeing bugs is also a well known side effect of methamphetimine use, so if you are having problems with drugs, please get some help.
*edit* ok, if you have bi-polar disorder you can have hallucinations and be delusional when you are in a manic phase. Also, since you were on one anti-psychotic and it didn't work for you, then try something else. There are lots of meds. Don't give up. My son is in a psych unit right now for bi-polar and schizophrenia, and he is doing better on a new combination of meds. Take care of yourself, stick with a med program, PLEASE. You really don't want it to get any worse, I guarantee.

If you're seeing spots, you can also desire to peer an Ophthalmologist. Once I had felt like my dermis used to be crawling. As it became out, this creepy/crawly feeling had whatever to do with my thyroid. Take Care.

Since you already have a psychiatrist, I would ask him about these "bugs," and about the hallucinatory ringing phones and smells. Do it soon, before these problems get worse. He'll probably adjust your meds or put you on a new one.
You ask specifically about schizophrenia, and your symptoms do present that possibility. That's why I'm advising you to see your shrink soon (as in, call him Monday). I started displaying schizophrenia-like symptoms (delusions, in my case) and my shrink put me on a low dose of Abilify, a relatively new drug used to treat schizophrenia. It worked. I hope your problem proves as easy to treat.

Sounds like you're just a bit jumpy after yr experience with the grasshopper & tick .... I get a bit like tht after seeing roaches (serious phobia), I get really jumpy when I see anything tht might resemble a bug within my peripheral vision ... it usually lasts a couple of days .... if it doesn't then you may need help. Btw, I get creeped out even looking at pictures of roaches!!

These are all a variety of different hallucinations. The side effects of the medication you're taking probably include hallucinations. Go back to your psychiatrist and tell them about it, they'll probably want to give you different meds.
You don't sound schizophrenic, you're far too lucid.
