You can decide which organs you will donate, but unless a family member needs a vital organ at the time of your death, the donated organs will go to someone in desperate need. You can't freeze a kidney, liver, heart, lungs, etc., just in case someone in your famiy might need it someday. It must be transplanted within a very short time frame or it will not function properly for the recipient.

No--they go to whoever's next on the list; however, there are many lists just here. Some people who are waiting for organs are on multiple lists. Whoever would receive your organs would most likely consider you a friend, if not family.

Not unless they are top of the waiting list. As far as am aware writing down your chosen recipient is not binding.

Just suppose that your chosen recipient was unfit for surgery at the time of your death. Would you want someone else to miss out on the chance, because the oragans won't keep?

How do you know that you would be compatible with your proposed donor? (Unless you've had the blood tests, of course.)

no you cant, only a living donor can choose who it can go to. once your dead their is nothing you can do, but you know yourself if you are a donor that you will be helping someone else live a healthy life, and that should be enough

not really unless you have signed a contract with someone....like i want to donate my body to science..i would go to a science lab...if your donating to anyone...it will go to where ever needs it the most. you can talk to a laywer about family and friends and where it goes...it will all have to be in your will.

When I`m dead, I don`t care. As long it helps some other person to live, that`s all that matters.
