The 'afterlife' is actually called death.
When death befalls one, the rotting and decomposition begin.
If you have tried to take your worldly riches with you, they won't be much use either as the worms feast on your remains.
Your body is eventually recycled into the earth and eventually the atoms of which you used to consist are dispersed far and wide. When the sun reaches the end of its life and expands to encompass the earth your atoms will become part of the sun. There is more but that is enough to be going on with.

Sadly, I don't believe in an afterlife. So my dream scenario of Falwell being fenestrated by teams of demon in shifts will have to remain a fantasy.
