I'm going to watch the fireworks @ legoland tonight and want to be able to get some cool photos. To get a good picture what setting on the camera would I use. I know all cameras are different but some proffesional standard photography tips would be great. Would I have the flash on or off?
Thanks

I'm here to give you your first right answer. First, use a tripod. Set your camera on manual everything. Small aperture, low ISO, set your shutter on bulb. Aim your lens towards the blasts, and set your focus manually on infinity. Press the shutter for the duration of the blasts, at least a few seconds. Around 5 seconds is good, but I've taken some fireworks shots near the end of one blast, waiting for another, that lasted longer than 10 seconds and came out fine.

I will link you to my fireworks shots so you can see what you can expect using this technique.

Oh yes, and flash off, definately!

If your camera has a night mode or even better, a fireworks mode, use it. If not, turn the flash off, use a tripod, use a long shutter speed and avoid shake by using the self timer to take the picutre.

You need a good camera that gives you manual control over various settings. May I suggest:
1. In creasing the aperture
2. Going for a relatively high ISO setting

Be careful not to increase the exposure as this would "run" the colours through the entire path of the fire works. Mind you the resulting picture will be interesting but not what you would expect.

Hope this helps.

Hi on my camera that is a connon, it has got a funtion that is an actual setting for fireworks, you need to set your camera so that it can take fast moving objects without them going blurry. Im sorry I am not much help but my camera has it all on it.

Arther beat me to it - yes a camera would certainly help you take pictures .... but if you want to know which one is best then i'd advise you to visit your nearest Jessops or camera shop.
