Is it 15 years like America?

Once you are eligible can you join the Royal Army?

First, a Yank has to have grounds to migrate to the UK. After two years, he/she can apply for "Indefinite Leave to Remain" and after a further three years, he/she can apply for citizenship. However, it's not as easy as it appears. First, "Indefinite Leave to Remain" is given to Assylum Seekers and those that are married to UK citizens. It is not given to economic migrants or business people. The term "Indefinite" means as it is defined in the English Oxford Dictionary and not Chambers. "Indefinite Leave" can be revoked as it is given and therefore you could be asked to leave the country immediately after receiving the stamp in your passport as the Home Office can say when the "Indefinite" period has expired. Even with citizenship, the UK Home Office can revoke that citizenship and remove you from the UK, at any time. However, it is rare that citizenship is revoked except for hardened criminals or those that could pose a threat to our security.

Finally, we do not have a "Royal Army". Therefore, you have already failed the citizenship test. To pass the test, you must have knowledge of the UK and it's obvious that you don't. We have a "Royal Navy" and a "Royal Air Force" but our land forces are called the "British Army". Anyway, why are so many Yanks trying to escape the US, is it really as bad as I thought it is? or are you all just running away from your debts?

Royal navy. Why do you want to be English then? I'm English only asking. If you have ancestors from Ireland i think you can get an Irish passport easy enough, that's all i know!

There's no such thing as the 'royal' army. It's the British army.
